Debbie McGee: Strictly star stunned by guests ’special’ Royal Family moment

Strictly Come Dancing finalist Debbie McGee, 60, was joined by Matthew Freeman on BBC Radio Berkshire where he spilled on a ‘special’ moment when he performed for Prince Charles. Speaking on the show, Debbie asked: “At these concerts you often get quite famous people in. Like some of the Royal Family. “I know you did one of Prince Charles that I read about.” She asked: “Does that have any affect on how you feel?”

Martin said: “I mean I aways take it seriously when performing. But I guess when Prince Charles is there it’s special.”

To which Debbie replied: “It does add something doesn’t it. It’s special,” before moving onto his various achievements in music.

Matthew is best known for his West End musical tours including the George Michael tour, the Abba show and Blue Planet Live.

His most recent project is to bring the legendary songs of Queen to the Royal Albert Hall.

Meanwhile, the former magician’s assistant recently spoke out about her late husband Paul Daniels where she revealed the moment the pair were “held down” during a trip in Central America.

She reflected on a time her Paul took a trip to Belize but ended up being held down by soldiers.

On the topic of memorable travel stories, the DJ told how her and Paul, whom she married in 1988, were flown in a helicopter, but almost got blown away.

After stepping out of the aircraft, she explained: “There was a big ridge with two soldiers waiting, they literally grabbed our arms and held us down and kind of almost laid on top of us so that we didn’t get blown away when the helicopter took off.”

Then, on a separate trip to the Falklands, Debbie recalled a “scary” moment in which she took a ride on a wagon which drove down the side of cliffs.

She said: “It had all these little cabins and could go down cliff sides and things like that, it was pretty scary actually.”

She later added: “I’ve done amazing things.”

Elsewhere, Debbie was left blushing on a recent broadcast of her morning radio show after her colleague revealed why he couldn’t stand up.

Her co-star Julian appeared to not be up for a dance and was just about to give his reasons before Debbie dropped a massive bombshell.

The Strictly finalist revealed to listeners on-air that Julian’s trouser zips were undone.

But he admitted there was “a good reason” as he went onto explain he actually suffers from Rheumatoid arthritis and this was the cause of his flies being undone.

He admitted that due to the pain he was unable to get his button up.

The Debbie McGee Show airs Sundays on BBC Radio Berkshire at 9am.
