How to get rid of belly fat: The one drink that will help shift a flabby stomach

A diet expert has revealed the best foods to eat to get rid of belly fat. Terri-Ann Nunns, founder of Terri-Ann’s Diet Plans, has shared six foods that can help dieters shift stubborn fat around the middle. And the diet guru has also revealed the one drink that could also help blast fat. Dieters should ditch fizzy drinks, alcohol and even builders tea if they want to slim – and instead make a cup of green tea.

Explaining the benefits, Terri-Ann said: “If you want to banish belly fat, try swapping your regular cuppa for a cup of green tea. Just one cup can increase the antioxidants in your blood, called catechins.

“The most important one of these is epigallocatechin gallate, a substance that can boost metabolism.”

Terri-Ann also shared six foods to incorporate in to a slimming diet:

Whole-wheat foods

Fibre is vital to ensuring your digestive system is working as it should. The easiest change you can make to get more fibre in your diet is switching your usual carbohydrates to whole-wheat foods – think brown bread, wholegrain pasta and rice, as well as oats, barley and rye.

Avocado

As well as being delicious, avocados are a great source of good fats. This fruit is rich in monounsaturated fat, which studies have shown can help control blood sugar and target visceral fat – which sits deep in the abdomen and has been linked to an increased risk of diabetes.

Nuts

Another food group that is full of good fats, people who snack on nuts could have a lower amount of belly fat than those who choose traditional carb based snacks, according to a 2015 study.

Eggs

Avoid reaching for unhealthy belly-expanding snacks by filling up on high protein foods. Eggs are the perfect high protein breakfast food, and have been linked to weight loss and reduced belly fat.

Bananas

This super fruit is packed full of vitamins. Bananas contain magnesium and potassium, which have been shown to offset the effects of salty processed foods that can often cause bloating.

Yoghurt

Another bloat-busting superfood, yoghurt encourages the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut, helping to banish bad bacteria which can cause a bloated belly.

Terri-Ann also explained how people end up with a large middle – and revealed that unfortunately, targeting just one area for fat loss isn’t possible.

She said: “Unfortunately it isn’t possible to specifically target certain areas for fat loss and the reason you store fat in certain places and not others often comes down to genetics – you may be genetically predisposed to carry excess weight in this area.

“If you’re carrying any excess weight around your middle a lot of this will be down to a poor diet, not enough exercise or a sedentary lifestyle.

“As always, diet can play a big part in reducing excess weight, whatever area of your body.”
