Josh Kelly majority draws with Ray Robinson – 96-95 to Kelly, 95-95, 95-95
The bout was a fairly technical affair with Kelly enjoying the early rounds before Robinson made his way back into the fight.
Kelly’s terrific head movement was on display for all to see in the latter round but Robinson did manage to land some shots.
The Sunderland-born man go to grips with Robinson’s big shots and ended the fight well with a superb last round of the fight.
But after a tense wait for the judges’ scorecards, announcer David Diamante confirmed a majority draw was the decision.
Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams defeats Quadeer Jenkins – 1st round TKO
Williams moves to 2-0, obliterating Jenkins in the first round.
The 23-year-old beat Joel Guevara in his first fight back in April under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner.
The American smashed Jenkins with a flurry of punches in the first minute, downing his opponent, who managed to get up at the count off nine.
But the second onslaught was unrecoverable as Williams took home his second professional win.
Joshua Buatsi defeats Marco Antonio Periban – Round 4 TKO
Buatsi did the job he came to do, getting Periban out of the ring before the second half of the fight started.
The Croydon man extended his record to 10-0 after raining punches down on his opponent in the fourth round.
Buatsi looked in contlrol for the whole fight and was expected to do what he did, although he got caught a few times.
But the light-heavyweight prospect managed to pick up the victory he needed, and will further look towards a world title shot now.
Chris Algieri defeats Tommy Coyle – Round 8 TKO
Coyle put up a spirited effort but was ultimately stopped at the end of the eighth round after suffering some horrendous punishment.
Algieri’s crisp jab was the story of the fight as Coyle struggled to get to grips with the class of the American.
Coyle pleaded with his corner not to stop the fight but his trainer Jamie Moore did not listen.
“Please don’t, not at Madison Square Garden, please don’t,” Coyle said to Moore.
