For better or worse, Captain Marvel had a small role in Avengers Endgame, allowing the original six superheroes to have their big send-off before Carol Danvers leads the MCU going forwards. But now a new set photo from a deleted scene sees Captain Marvel on Vormir. So just what is going on here? Well, fans will remember that Black Widow and Hawkeye went to 2014 Vormir where Nat gave her life so Clint could obtain the Soul Stone.

Now considering Captain Marvel doesn’t have her 2023 short haircut, surely this is her 2014-self come to aide the Avengers duo?
After all, Avengers Endgame co-editor Matthew Schmidt recently revealed originally 2014 Thanos and his goons arrived on Vormir to stop Black Widow and Hawkeye.
The editor told Business Insider: “On script and what we first shot was an excellent scene.
“Thanos and his soldiers show up on Vormir and a small battle ensues between them and Natasha and Clint.”
He added: “Natasha decides to run off the cliff. Clint tries to stop her while also fending off the attack.”
Surely this means 2014 Captain Marvel showed up to save the day, allowing Black Widow enough time to sacrifice herself?
As for why the scene was cut, Schmidt added: “It was reshot to make it more intimate between Clint and Natasha, which fully worked in the end version of the movie.
“We just came up with a better idea, something that serviced Natasha a little bit more.”

Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson has begun shooting her Black Widow solo movie.
Set photos from Norway show the star sporting her character’s red locks in what is assumed to be a prequel.
However, considering the Snap didn’t happen in Avengers Endgame’s alternate timeline perhaps this version of Black Widow survives?
