New Modern Warfare game promises Call of Duty crossplay on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the reveal of Call of Duty Modern Warfare, the latest game in the COD franchise.

And there has been some surprise reveals following the official announcement today.

As usual, the new Call of Duty game for 2019 will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC, skipping the Nintendo Switch.

But in a new twist, it appears that this new Modern Warfare game will support crossplay between consoles and PC.

Full details have not been announced yet but it appears that crossplay will be part of the package.

The PC version will run on the Blizzard.Net servers, like Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

Infinity Ward announced their plans for Crossplay support today, revealing that it will extend to all platforms.

“With the launch of Modern Warfare, the team is taking steps to unite the community,” Infinity Ward said in a recent statement.

“First, the team plans for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support.

“Also, the team is eliminating the traditional season pass, so that they can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players.”

It’s unclear what will be replacing the Season Pass at this time, and how far cross-play support will extend.

But it will no doubt be good news for PC fans, who have some times felt left behind in former years.

“The stakes have never been higher as players take on the role of lethal Tier One operators in a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power,” the official game description reads.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare engulfs fans in an incredibly raw, gritty, provocative narrative that brings unrivalled intensity and shines a light on the changing nature of modern war.

“Developed by the studio that started it all, Infinity Ward delivers an epic reimagining of the iconic Modern Warfare series from the ground up.

“In the visceral and dramatic single-player story campaign, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare pushes boundaries and breaks rules the way only Modern Warfare can.

“Players will engage in breathtaking covert operations alongside a diverse cast of international special forces throughout iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East.

“And the story doesn’t end there. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players will be thrust into an immersive narrative spanning the entire game.

“Players can experience the ultimate online playground with classic multiplayer or squad-up and play cooperatively in a collection of elite operations, accessible to all skill levels.”

Elite Operations sounds like another interesting twist on the usual Call of Duty formula, providing multiplayer fans with missions they can enjoy with friends.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is scheduled for release on October 25, 2019.
