EE is the first UK provider to switch on its 5G network (Image: EE • OPPO • OnePlus)

EE is the first UK provider to switch on its 5G network and is currently selling four devices capable of supporting the new technology; the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, OPPO Reno 5G and LG V50 ThinQ.

EE has not yet told customers what sort of speeds they can expect from any of these new devices.

However, the firm has insisted customers switching from 4G could see increases from between 100Mbps to 150Mbps in areas deemed to be busy when they move to 5G.

Initially EE’s 5G coverage will be available in high-profile cities such as London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester.

But, the provider has insisted it will work rapidly to expand areas in which 5G can be harnessed.

For those with an immediate desire for the new technology, here are the best deals for the four phones EE is selling.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G

The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G comes with the same design and internals as the standard OnePlus 7 Pro but features a more capable modem inside that allows it to deliver next generation speeds.

It is worth noting the hardware comes with the same battery capacity as the regular 7 Pro but will probably deliver reduced life if users are taking advantage of 5G networks.

EE’s 5G plans for the OnePlus product all come with at least two of the firm’s new swappable benefits that allow customers to customise a particular plan to better suit their usage.

The cheapest plan for the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G costs £59 per month on a two-year contract.

This will grant fans 10GB of data in addition to unlimited minutes and texts.

An upfront charge of £170 is required here.

While EE is offering a whopping 120GB of internet on one of its contracts for £79 per month, it is likely most customers will not require such a high allowance.

Instead, the network is offering 30GB of data with one of its 7 Pro 5G plans for £69 per month.

This tariff also comes with unlimited texts, data and requires an upfront charge of £50.

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

The Galaxy S10 5G is the largest handset in Samsung’s S10 series and also comes with the most amount of cameras.

S10 5G touts a whopping 6.7-inch display with the resolution of 1440×3040 and the density of 502-pixels-per-inch.

Moreover, the product also comes with the same primary, telephoto and ultra wide-angle sensors as its cheaper brothers but has an added time-of-flight (TOF) lens on its rear.

This is used to give the S10 a more precise understanding of objects that surround it.

The S10 5G will not be available through EE until June 7.

EE’s cheapest plan for the handset costs £69 and comes with 10GB of data in addition to unlimited data and minutes.

OPPO Reno 5G

OPPO Reno 5G comes with the same all-screen design and innovative triple camera system as the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition but is capable of delivering faster internet speeds.

The product’s most notable feature is easily its 13-megapixel camera sensor that is dedicated to zooming.

This is capable of delivering a six-times optical zoom and helps the Reno deliver a 60-times digital zoom thanks to a new update.

OPPO Reno will release later this year but is currently available to pre-order on EE’s site.

Once again, the cheapest plan for the device comes with 10GB of 5G data and costs £54 per month on a two-year contract.

This processor is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and an Adreno 640 GPU.

Unfortunately, the V50 is not currently available to purchase and will release later this year.

However, those eager to secure the device can pre-order it on EE’s site.
