Sleeping Snorlax invade Pokemon Go with new moves but no shiny rewards yet

In a surprise move on the part of Niantic and the Pokemon Company, a wave of sleeping Snorlax have appeared on the map.

The new bonuses will be available when you wake up today, and there should be plenty of Sleeping Snorlaxes to be found.

“The next few months are going to be filled with some amazing adventures—even Pokémon are getting ready in their own ways,” a message from Niantic reads.

“We’re hearing reports from all over the world that Trainers are finding Snorlax in deep slumber. Do you think they’re getting ready for an eventful summer?”

An unexpected bonus of this event is that when you go to catch a Snorlax, they will remain asleep and will only wake up after you catch it.

This also gives Trainers a unique opportunity to take a snap with a snoozing Pokemon and add it to their collection.

These sleeping Pocket Monsters are not set to stick around though, with Niantic confirming that the Snorlax wave will be disappearing next week.

This will happen on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT, or 9pm BST in the UK.

The other unique thing about the Sleeping Snorlax that can be found in the game is that they all have an exclusive move.

According to Niantic, the exclusive move Yawn is available on every sleeping Snorlax caught this week.

And that’s not the only big news confirmed by Niantic and the Pokemon Company this week.

It has also been revealed that a new App and a new device are being launched that will both function alongside Pokemon Go.

During a Pokemon Press Conference tonight, it was revealed that the Pokemon Sleep App is in development and set to be released in 2020.

Pokemon Sleep tracks a user’s time sleeping and will also have some kind of gameplay tie-in.

Details are still a little vague but this comment was shared quickly after the Pokemon Press Conference tonight: “What if you could continue training your Pokémon…even in your sleep?” the Pokemon Company message reads.

“In 2016, Pokémon GO turned the simple act of walking into entertainment, making the entire world into a game. We’re about to do it again, Trainers—this time, for sleeping.”

This new App is in development with a new device that will be compatible with Pokemon Go. The Pokemon Go Plus + device will sync with smartphones like the original peripheral but will also come with added features.

This will include being able to track your time sleeping during the night and send the data to your phone.

Here’s more from the Pokemon Company, who explains in a new statement: “Soon, you’ll be able to wake up with Pokémon every morning with Pokémon Sleep, a mobile app coming from The Pokémon Company.

“Pokémon Sleep brings a gameplay experience unlike any other. A new device based on the Pokémon GO Plus device uses an embedded accelerometer to track your time sleeping and sends this information to your smartphone via Bluetooth.

“This new device, called the Pokémon GO Plus +, also has the same functions as the original Pokémon GO Plus, so you can use it to play Pokémon GO during the day as well as with Pokémon Sleep at night!
