OnePlus 7 BOOST as new update makes this flagship even better

OnePlus 7 Pro released earlier this month and is easily the most premium device the firm has ever created.

That is because the hardware touts arguably the best display on any smartphone around, a triple camera system and speedy internals.

OnePlus 7 Pro is also the biggest phone ever released from the OEM, delivering a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with the resolution of 1440×3120 and a density of 516-pixels-per-inch.

However, the display in question is even more notable for its 90Hz refresh rate that is much higher than the 60Hz offered on most other smartphones.

Refresh rate refers to how many times a screen refreshes per second – the higher the figure the smoother the entire user experience will be.

OnePlus 7 Pro’s triple camera system boasts a 48-megapixel primary sensor that is accompanied by a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto module that can deliver a 3-times optical zoom.

Although the Chinese tech firm has placed a heavy emphasis on the 7 Pro’s camera system, it appears many early adopters of the device are not happy with its performance.

In fact, a number of owners recently took to OnePlus’ online forum to express their disappointment.

One declared: “I’m a user of Oneplus 7 Pro. In my opinion, it’s very bad.

“When you are inside a house, and even most of the time when you are out, the live preview of the camera itself shows soft, pinkish/blueish coloured image.

“When the image is captured, it’s as bad as the live preview.”

Another wrote: “The pictures are too soft. The edges make it look like a cheap Chinese phone.”

Following the disappointment of many, OnePlus’ OxygenOS Product Manager, Jimmy Z, told fans within the thread the firm was working on a software update that would improve how the 7 Pro deals with HDR shots in addition to its low-light mode.

At the time it was noted the update would release “in a week or so”.

Now, following up on its promise, OnePlus has begun the rollout of a new OxygenOS build that introduces said upgrades.

In a new forum post, the firm stated “image quality” in HDR situations and low-light should be improved for owners.

Here is the full changelog presented by the new software version:

System

• Optimised Double Tap to Wake and Ambient Display

• Fixed an issue that causes an audio delay with the Bluetooth headset when playing games

• General bug fixes and improvements

Camera

• Improved image quality in HDR scenarios

• Improved image quality in low light

• Fixed white balance issue in several scenarios

• Fixed focus issue in several scenarios

Announcing the update, the Chinese tech giant said: “We are starting to push the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 9.5.4 and 9.5.5, they are essentially the same builds, but due to recent regulations in the EU and as per Google’s instructions we have two builds now, one specifically for EU region.

“Thanks for the overwhelming amount of feedback we received both positive and constructive from users of the OnePlus 7 Pro’s triple camera, both from within the media and our own community. OnePlus is committed to building products for and with our users. We value your voice!”

OnePlus emphasised the update is rolling out to all 7 Pro owners gradually, meaning you should not be worried if it is not instantly available for their handset.
