Homes Under The Hammer presenter Lucy Alexander, 48, told her 25,0000 followers she was unimpressed with the term “Bran The Broken”, the name given to Game of Thrones’ Bran Stark. Taking to Twitter, the presenter whose daughter Kitty Rose, 16, is in a wheelchair, said disabled people shouldn’t be referred to as “broken”. She wrote: “Just finally caught up on last ep of #GOT… Brann the ’BROKEN’? Just because he’s in a wheelchair does he really need this label?
“He’s been a total hero & this sends out a neg message to all in wheelchairs (like my daughter) they are NOT broken. Bulls**t. #gameofthrones.”(sic)
Many of the presenter’s followers flocked to her page to comment.
One user commented: “Think you’ve misunderstood the history of all the Brandon Starks as kings.”
She replied: “Maybe but still find it a negative title.”
After receiving more replies, Lucy later tweeted: “Brann the ‘Brilliant would have been better #leader #got.”
Back in 2013, Lucy spoke out about her daughter’s condition, revealing she was struck down with Transverse Myelitis, a rare neurological disease, which left her paralysed in 2010.
Recalling the moment her daughter fell ill, she told Hello! Magazine: “Kitty’s face was grey and she was sobbing in pain.
”’Mummy, I’m scared,’ she said. She told me that it felt as if someone had dropped a big metal anchor on her back.”
During the chat, Kitty said she was destined to become an actress.
She told the publication: “There are things I can’t do any more, but I don’t mind; I’ve found something else I love.
“My ambition is to be the first actress in a wheelchair to win an Oscar.”
Back in February, Lucy paid a tribute to her daughter to mark the anniversary of her illness.
Alongside a picture of Lucy, her husband Stewart Castledine, 46, and their daughter Kitty, she commented: “This date will be forever etched on my mind.
“My daughter 9 years ago became instantly paralysed at school from a virus that attacked her spinal cord. What a journey it’s been.
“As her mum I’m just so proud of the amazing woman she has become. Kitty [love] you so much.”
Elsewhere last month, Lucy was left emotional during an episode of The Customer Is Always Right.
An entrepreneur showcased his item of a tray which carries four mugs and can be handled with just one hand.
She said: My daughter is a wheelchair user and this, I can honestly say, this has really touched me.”
