Roman Reigns speaks out about WWE's controversial Saudi Arabia deal before Super ShowDown

WWE has signed a multi-million 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia and staged two big Pay-Per-View events last year called the Greatest Royal Rumble and Crown Jewel.

The wrestling giants are set to put together their third megashow WWE Super ShowDown on June 7 at the King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, where Reigns will face Shane McMahon in a Singles Match.

The previous shows, though, attracted plenty of criticism as women weren’t allowed to compete despite the wrestling giants’ growing Women’s Revolution that has seen female wrestlers being established as main-event players.

Crown Jewel also took place shortly after the brutal murder of prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi who was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Vince McMahon’s promotion was urged by many, including US Senators, to cancel the show last November.

Reigns is aware of the mixed reactions but is confident that this collaboration will help promote positive change in Saudi Arabia.

The Big Dog feels like WWE’s Saudi deal is leading towards a solution and he would rather be part of the action rather than sit on the sidelines.

Reigns told Newsweek: “It gets a lot of mixed and negative reactions.

“The bottom line for me is, if we’re going to help promote change, if we’re going to set out to make an impact then I have to be a part of it.

“I’m not going to sit on the sideline and talk about how we can get there.

“I want to be a part of the action.

“I look at it as being a part of the solution while still respecting cultures, but it’s a big world and I want to experience all of it.

“So if we can help make a positive impact that’s what we’re here to do.

“We’re here to put smiles on everyone’s faces.

“We don’t discriminate, that’s our goal to help and promote positivity and take that to every inch of the world.”
