What/If was released on Netflix on Friday, May 24 with an all-star cast playing out the drama on-screen. The What/If cast includes the likes of Oscar-winner Renée Zellweger and Glee star Blake Jenner as Anne Montgomery and Sean Donovan, respectively, as well as former Criminal Minds actor Derek Smith as Kevin. But who is the man behind Kevin and why may fans recognise actor Smith?
Who plays Kevin in What/If on Netflix?
Kevin in What/If is played by actor Derek Jamieson Smith.
Smith plays a pivotal role throughout the Netflix Original series as Marcos’ (played by Juan Castano) love interest.
Netflix viewers witness Kevin throughout What/If flirt and make his way into Marcos’ life, despite him being in a romance with Lionel (John Clarence Stewart).
Away from What/If, viewers will undoubtedly recognise the actor from a number of his other on-screen roles.

Smith broke into the world of acting with a number of roles in some of the USA’s biggest TV series.
The What/If star’s early roles include parts in MANswers, The Secret Lives of Wives and Lifetime series Drop Dead Diva.
He also landed a part in long-running CBS crime drama Criminal Minds back in 2011.
After his stint on Criminal Minds, Smith went on to star in bit-part roles on CSI and Beverly Hills Server.
Smith’s biggest parts came in the Golden Globe-winning series The Good Wife and popular ABC hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy.

His most recent role prior to What/If, however, was in 2017 horror flick One of Us.
Smith starred opposite the likes of Carly Schroeder and Ed Ackerman in the box office hit.
What/If is Smith’s first recurring role in a series and the actor took to Instagram (@derekjamiesonsmith) to express his excitement at landing the part of Kevin.
Alongside a snap of his What/If promo poster, Smith wrote: “Somebody squeegee that window STAT.
“All the water is hiding my handsome. Seriously though, I owe someone with an airbrush a cuddle.
“Catch a whole lot more of me May 24th. @what_if. Get after it.”
