Queen: Brian May drops EXCITING bombshell about NEW music with Adam Lambert

The band with their sensation new frontman are about to embark on a huge North American tour in July. Fans have embraced the new line-up but have started to accept that this is as far as it goes for Queen in the modern era. Lambert, May and Roger Taylor have all previously commented that it was unlikely they would ever attempt to make any new Queen recordings or work on new material. Until now. May just gave a major new interview with a surprise bombshell.

In a comprehensive new feature for Mojo magazine May and Taylor discuss the history of Queen, the making of Bohemian Rhapsody, their estrangement from John Deacon and the new incarnation of the band with Adam Lambert.

It is clear how happy they are with their new frontman. Taylor says: “We can throw any Freddie song at Adam and he can sing it.”

But May is the one who finally opens up the hope of new material when he reveals he does not want Queen to become “a museum piece.”

QUEEN ADAM LAMBERT INTERVIEW; BRIAN MAY SAYS ‘WE DIDNT ASK FOR HIM’

May tells Mojo: “We’ve talked about writing songs. It’s been discussed.”

The Queen songwriter and guitarist explains their focus right now is on the shows: “We’re a live outfit now and concerned with giving maximum value for money on-stage. That means playing songs everybody knows. So the thought of new music gets pushed into the background.”

Previously, it was believed there was no chance of any fresh songs, but May also gives fans new hope.

He added: “I don’t want Queen to become a museum piece but right now the show is a celebration of our recorded works.”

This is doubly good news. Not only does May clearly indicate he still wants to write new music, he is also only saying they are focussed on their back catalogue right now.

What comes next is suddenly looking very exciting.

THE JULY ISSUE OF MOJO IS OUT NOW.
