How Zinedine Zidane ANGER could force Chelsea star Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid move

That’s according to Belgian football insider Kristof Terreur.

Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard has teased his ambition to move to the Bernabeu for almost 12 months, having fluttered his eyelashes at Los Blancos after the World Cup having repeatedly called it a dream to play for the La Liga giants.

Hazard is down to just the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and as a result is expected to force Chelsea into selling him to Real Madrid this summer given the risk of losing him for nothing next year.

A FIFA-imposed transfer ban could yet change that, with the Blues currently unable to spend however much money they get for Hazard, but the 28-year-old is believed to be keen to want the move after failing to seal a switch last year.

Although Chelsea did not have Champions League football this season, Hazard stuck around and contributed 19 goals and 16 assists across all competitions to secured a third-placed finish in the Premier League and help the club to the finals of both the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

But according to Terreur, Zidane is furious with how Real Madrid ended their season and will therefore apply pressure on club president Florentino Perez and the club board to deliver him Hazard, his No 1 transfer target.

Real Madrid endured an abysmal season by their standards, finishing third in La Liga with 12 defeats and ending 19 points off of rivals and champions Barcelona while crashing out of the Champions League in the quarter finals and falling to Barca in the semi finals of the Copa del Rey.

And Zidane is keen to overhaul his squad as he seeks to arrest Real’s slide, having returned to the club just nine months after surprisingly walking away with both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari having been sacked in the interim.

Speaking to Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast, Terreur said: “He [Hazard] can’t announce anything at the moment. He’s had a personal agreement with Real for a while now but the clubs at the moment haven’t found an agreement as of yet over the fee.

“I heard Real are wanting to make the final push after the Europa League final [next Wednesday]. I think the chips might all fall into place in the short period after the Europa League final.

“That’s what the player’s hoping too – he wants it done before he joins Belgium when they play Kazakhstan on June 4.

“It’s a bit of a deadline, they have five days to do the deal. In the last two weeks not a lot has happened between the two clubs because Chelsea have said they’ll do it after the final.

“At a certain moment they were still €30million apart and that was without discussing the bonuses so I don’t know, maybe they have been in touch over the last few weeks.

“That’s something that might have changed with Real losing their last home game [2-0 to Real Betis], it’s been a very angry Zinedine Zidane.

“He’s the key in this deal, he wants to build his team around Eden Hazard and he wants to get the deal done quickly.

“I think he’s put a bit of pressure on Real Madrid, maybe they’re going to pay more than they were eventually thinking. At the beginning €100m was their maximum.

“We’ll see what Chelsea do because some are saying they might slow down everything because they don’t know what’s happening with that transfer ban and are still waiting to get back the written things from FIFA. They’re in a difficult situation.

“I know that Zidane, Eden is his man and he wants him as fast as possible. They’ll push for that deal before they can get rid of Bale. Bale might even hold back other deals.

“Marina Granovskaia is the key, I’m hearing. She’ll decide does he go, does he stay.

“But the player already wanted to go last summer after the World Cup. He gave them an extra season but he’s been with the Real Madrid transfer in his head for the whole year.

“He’s given them another season and now he expects something back I think. He wants to go to Real Madrid and it’s always difficult to keep unhappy players.”
