The Perfection on Netflix: ‘GORY’ new movie left The View host ‘SCREAMING’

With critics praising its “gory” nature, The View host Sonny Hostin even revealed on air that it left her “screaming”.

With star Allison Williams appearing on the show, Hostin said she had watched the Netflix latest the previous evening.

“I did a lot of screaming last night,” she said. “Thank you, Allison!”

She had earlier described the film as “wonderful and freaky and very scary”.

“I usually don’t like freaky and scary but I loved it,” she admitted.

Critics, meanwhile, have been mostly in support of The Perfection – with an 83% score currently showing on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Guardian gave three stars and called it a “gory Netflix horror [that] offers imperfect intrigue”.

They added: “When the film commits to its midnight movie madness, it develops a personality above the often pedestrian visuals [director Richard] Shepard offers up but one wonders what a different, more daring director might have done with this material.”

The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, called it a “stylishly made, nail-biting effort that proves consistently engrossing”.

Entertainment Weekly, in a B-graded review, said: “Some folks may laugh when director Richard Shepard wants their jaws to drop. But it delivers.

“The Perfection is a pure hit of twisted, absurd camp catnip.”

And the Los Angeles Times said: “The exterior of The Perfection is flawless, covering up the darkness that lies beneath.

“The wild ride in store is both supremely disturbing and unpredictable. But rendered with such care, skill and sheer glee – it’s utterly divine.”

The Playlist was less impressed, saying: “Today, serial sexual abuse and women’s bodily autonomy are dire topics for most.

“Apparently, for the team behind The Perfection, those real-life horrors are just more fun genre fare.”

The Perfection is streaming on Netflix now.
