Carol Vorderman: 'Useless as a celebrity’ Countdown star speaks out in shock Twitter post

Carol Vorderman, 58, took to Twitter and shared a picture with her 400,000 followers as she laid in the grass amongst blossoming buttercups. The age-defying beauty could be seen sporting a pair of dark sunglasses as she posed for her selfie in the stunning shot. A social media user quizzed the Countdown star about the snap, as they probed: “Nice blurry effect… is that a filter? (genuine question!!)” The small screen star responded to them, writing: “Um no…I don’t know how to do the filter thing….lol..#UselessAsACelebrity.”

Carol appeared to be enjoying the hot weather which swept the nation yesterday as she admitted she couldn’t “stay inside”.

She captioned the initial post: “Just can’t stay inside… communing with buttercups…again,” followed by a laughing-faced emoji.

Fans bombarded the star with comments, as one person said: “Fab pic Vorders…buttercup is your colour..fresh, vibrant, bright, and very hardy…”

Another person joked: “I’m getting hayfever just looking at this.”

While a third person quipped: “WHY DO YOU BUILD ME UP, BUTTERCUP BABY JUST TO LET ME DOWN (you never let me down),” in reference to the popular 1960s hit by The Foundations.

The TV star also uploaded a few more snaps from her day out at the Avon Gorge in Bristol as she took a photo overlooking the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

She captioned the post: “By hell but it’s a BEEEEYOUTEEFULL morning, been talking to the buttercups…apparently I LURVE butter..who knew!!?!”(sic)

Fans rushed to comment, as one person said: “Lovely pics, Carol.”

Another person mused: “Stunning Vorders. I can believe you love butter.”

While a third social media user quizzed: “This looks beautiful! Where is this Carol?”

Meanwhile, Carol made a recent announcement on her plans to have a massive shake-up on the Eurovision Song Contest competition during a recent broadcast on her BBC Radio Wales show at the weekend.

Carol, who has Welsh heritage, made an impassioned bid to get Wales to represent themselves at the Eurovision Song Contest on the programme.

Discussing the UK’s entry, 21-year-old Michael Rice, the star told listeners: “I thought it was a nice song, to be perfectly honest.”

The UK ended up finishing last, scoring a disappointing 16 points.

“I’m kind of getting used to that,” the presenter admitted, before launching into a suggestion for the future of Eurovision.

“I think Wales should have an entry,” she announced. “We’d win, if it was Wales.”
