X Factor star ‘will undergo operation to rebuild nose’ after skin cancer diagnosis

X Factor star Tracyleanne Jefford, 34, who competed on the ITV competition, reportedly learned she had basal cell carcinoma (BCC), two weeks ago. A source close to Tracy told The Sun: “She was diagnosed with cancer on her face a couple of weeks ago. She’s got to go for another op in two or three weeks. They’ll basically take away parts of the nose and rebuild it.”

A representative for Tracy confirmed the news of Tracy’s diagnosis to Express.co.uk.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is also commonly known as a rodent ulcer and is the most common type of skin cancer.

The disease can be cured in almost every case.

According to the NHS website, BCC “usually appears as a small, shiny pink or pearly-white lump with a translucent or waxy appearance.

“It can also look like a red, scaly patch.”

Tracy rose to fame on the X Factor in 2017, making it to the final in the over 28s category.

She was mentored by former judge Nicole Scherzinger.

Tracy returned to the show after previously auditioning in 2006.

Despite not winning the show in 2017, Tracy was signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco.

The Sun reported she had parted ways with the music label last year.

She told the publication: “I was released from the contract. But it ain’t gonna stop me with my music.

“I have been approached by a few labels. So, that’s really, really positive for me.

“And I haven’t jumped in with any of them yet because I want to see who else approaches me and how I can better myself from that.”

Despite her contract not being renewed, Tracy said she had nothing but love for music boss Simon.

“That man believed in me in the beginning and he gave me that chance,” she added.

“He even come on that stage that night [she left the X Factor] and cuddled me and said, ‘You are what this show is about’. Because I was myself.”
