Piers Morgan addresses The One Show host’s awkward ‘eye rolls’ ahead of appearance

The One Show host Angela Scanlon, 35, told viewers Piers Morgan, 53, would be joining them on the show on Thursday, but her reaction appeared to hit a nerve with the presenter. Angela jokingly pulled a face when mentioning Piers’ name, prompting her co-star Matt Baker, 41, to giggle. Piers took to Twitter shortly after the show to share a clip of the moment and commented on Angela’s expression. Within his tweet, he made a reference to his Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid, 48, who he regularly debates with lightheartedly.

In view of his 6.65 million followers, Piers commented: “The @susannareid100 eyerolls are spreading.”

Angela is yet to respond to Piers’ comment, but took to her Twitter page earlier this evening to praise tonight’s guests on the show.

She and Matt were joined by married couple Marvin, 34, and Rochelle Humes, 30, to discuss their new music show.

Angela retweeted a video from The One Show’s official Twitter page which included the caption: “As far as TV couples go, they’re one of our faves!

“@MarvinHumes and @RochelleHumes have joined Matt and @angelascanlon on the sofas tonight!”

Within the video, Angela said the pair have always been “destined to be together” after highlighting their similar career paths.

Angela is currently fronting the show while veteran host Alex Jones, 42, is on maternity leave.

The latter gave birth to her newborn son Kit last Monday and announced the news via a phone call on the show yesterday.

Elsewhere, Piers is currently promoting the upcoming new series of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

Guests joining the host in the hot seat this series include Mel B, Sir Michael Parkinson and Lord Sugar.

Piers recently said Michael “completely broke down” when he opened up about his late father Jack Parkinson, who died in 1975.

The presenter told TV Times: “Michael was an only child and very close to his dad, who was a miner.

“When he was talking about his father dying and people coming to take the body away, he completely broke down.”

The host went on to say he wanted to do a “good job” when interviewing Michael, referring to him as “one of my heroes”.

He added: “You’ve never seen Parky like that, and it is very interesting to see how it plays out.”

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm.
