Harrison produced moments of excellence during his loan spell at Leeds United this season, as the club fell just short of achieving their goal of returning to the Premier League.
The 22-year-old winger impressed boss Marcelo Bielsa with his performances in their campaign and the Argentine is reportedly interested in securing his services on a permanent basis according to The Sun.
However, parent club Manchester City have increased his price tag and now value him at as much as £20m.
Leeds would be interested in taking Harrison on loan again next season after he scored four goals and made three assists in his 39 games for the Whites in 2018-19, but City are said to be more interested in a permanent transfer.
It is now feared that such a high fee will price Leeds out of any future deal and Leeds fans were quick to react to City’s valuation.
“£20m?! Not a chance,” one fan said on Reddit.
“Especially not based on last seasons performance. Even if he lit up the division and was top of the assists with some hefty goals he still wouldn’t be worth £20m.”
One fan felt the price tag was just part of City’s model for making money, they said: “This is part of their business model, increasing their academy pool to sell off as legitimate profit.
“Obviously he’s not worth anywhere near that but I would bet my house this isn’t to price anyone out, it’s merely to make money.”
Another fan felt Leeds should now look elsewhere. They said: “Nope. Pass. Sorry Jack lad.”
Meanwhile one fan was hopeful City boss Pep Guardiola would do a favourable deal for the club, as he is a long-time admirer of Bielsa: “Just saw this, what an absolute joke.
“Pep needs to have a word and let us have him for like £1 mil.”
After Leeds lost to Derby 4-3 on aggregate in their Championship play-off semi-final, Harrison took to Instagram to send a message to the club’s fans.
“I am proud that my first full season in England was with Leeds United,” he said.
“Thank you to those who stuck by me through the highs and more importantly, the lows.
“I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to play for such a great club.
“I know Leeds will be back to where they belong.”
