Liverpool star reveals emotional story about beating Barcelona in the Champions League

Trailing 3-0 from the semi-final first leg at the Nou Camp, Jurgen Klopp’s side pulled off the seemingly impossible by running out 4-0 winners in the second leg at Anfield.

Alisson was in inspired form that night, denying Lionel Messi with two excellent saves as he secured an unlikely clean sheet against one of Europe’s most formidable front lines.

Liverpool will now face Premier League rivals Tottenham in the final at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on June 1.

And Alisson says the memories from the Barca win is something no one can ever take away from him.

“That memory will be with me forever, it’s a story that I’ll be telling my children and my grandchildren,” the Brazilian goalkeeper said.

“I’m just hoping that we can see this story through, God willing, to get the title, which is our main objective.”

Alisson was part of the Roma side who were beaten by Liverpool in last season’s semi-final and he is now hoping to take them one step further this year by helping them get their hands on the trophy.

“Incredible, incredible,” he added. “I played here against Liverpool and I experienced the power that the fans gave to the team on the pitch.

“They put a lot of pressure on you, it’s not easy playing here against our team.

“Now that I’m playing here I’ve experienced the amazing things that we have achieved in this Champions League, qualifying for the final in the way that we did, returning from a difficult defeat that many thought was impossible.

“It was achievable through God’s blessing, the work that we put in and a lot of dedication, plus the support from the fans on the night which was incredible.”

Alisson is certain to keep his place in goal for the final while Liverpool were handed an injury boost by the return to fitness of his Brazil team-mate Roberto Firmino.

Firmino missed both legs of the semis but boss Klopp has always been confident that he will be ready.

And the striker today shared photos on Instagram that show him being put through his paces as he bids to prove his fitness.
