Game of Thrones: Would THESE different endings for George RR Martin's books please fans?

Jon Snow is publicly revealed as Aegon Targaryen and takes his rightful seat on the Iron Throne

Some Game of Thrones fans have pointed out that Jon Snow could actually have been a bastard since his surprise reveal as the true heir to Iron Throne over Daenerys didn’t properly manifest and get the arc satisfaction it deserved.

Surely it would have been better for Jon to either be killed trying to claim the throne from Dany or actually have the fairy tale ending where the rightful heir is restored to the Iron Throne after either murdering or defeating her?

Either of those would have been more satisfying than Jon being exiled and going back to the Night’s Watch. Didn’t he deserve a better ending?

Jon Snow wins the Iron Throne but abdicates it to a better ruler

This also would have been more satisfying for Jon to willingly choose to relinquish power to a more capable ruler.

Sansa certainly could have ruled the whole of Westeros and maybe could have made her marriage to Tyrion work.

Certainly, a character who had a better story more directly connected to the actual game of thrones would have been a more appropriate victor rather than the reluctant King Bran.

The Game of Thrones comes full circle with a Baratheon back on the Iron Throne

A popular fan theory saw history repeat itself and the wheel keep on turning.

Dany had become her father the Mad King, but what if the surviving Starks and Lannisters rebelled against her taking her life?

That did mostly happen, but what if King Robert’s bastard Gendry was then installed on the Iron Throne?

After all, he has a claim as the last surviving King’s son who was made legitimate by Dany and maybe Arya could have been his Queen.

Such an ending would highlight the morally grey nature of Martin’s narrative and the meaningless repetition of history in its worldview.

However, at the end of the day, Martin chose for lessons to be learnt from the bloodshed and progress to be made with a democratically elected King.
