Game of Thrones season 8, episode 6 ending explained: How did GoT end?

Season eight of Game of Thrones was always going to leave some portions of the fandom far from satisfied. However, the producers of the HBO series have tried to wrap up the epic story as much as possible. We’ve broken down the main things you need to know.

WARNING: The night is dark and full of spoilers! This article contains major spoilers from Game of Thrones season 8

Bran Stark sits on the Iron Throne

Bran Stark (played by Isaac Hempstead Wright) was the one to end up on the Iron Throne after he was deemed to wisest to rule thanks to his Three-Eyed Raven powers.

His rule will prove most interesting, particularly if he spends most of the time off warging.

The outcome got a mixed reaction from fans who weren’t so sure.

HOW MANY EPISODES ARE IN GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8?

Jon Snow kills Daenerys Targaryen

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) made the decision to stab Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) just as she planned to sit on the Iron Throne.

He made the move after being deeply disturbed by her lack of mercy during last week’s Battle of King’s Landing.

Drogon was understandably upset by the death of his mother and burnt the Iron Throne.

Tyrion Lannister finds his dead siblings

Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) was left distraught after finding both his brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his sister Cersei (Lena Headey).

He wept as he spotted Jaime’s golden hand among the ruins in the underground passageways of the Red Keep.

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8, EPISODE 6 STREAMING

Jon Snow goes back to the Wall

Jon’s journey came full circle as he headed back to the Wall for a second watch, which seemed pretty strange considering the last time he was there he was assassinated by his own Brothers.

In some respects, the moment felt full circle and reminiscent of Maester Aemon (Peter Vaughan), who was revealed to be a Targaryen who had renounced his lineage and titles for the Night’s Watch.

One of the sweetest moments saw Jon reuniting with his beloved direwolf Ghost who was waiting for him.

Sansa is named Queen in the North

Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) came out on top as she was named Queen in the North, a title she’d longed for.

The North finally gained its independence and was its own entity in the now Six Kingdoms.

Sansa had one of the most satisfying story arcs out of any of the characters having risen like a phoenix from the ashes to be re-born.

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER SERIES OF GAME OF THRONES?

Arya Stark goes off exploring

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) decided to leave King’s Landing and go off exploring – could this be the beginning of a spin-off series?

Sadly, it seems we can’t hope for a reunion between Arya and Gendry (Joe Dempsie) despite everything.

Other things to take note of saw Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) writing A Song of Ice and Fire as the show got very meta.
