Game of Thrones finale: Fans ‘double-take’ after spotting Robin Arryn transformation

The conclusion of Game of Thrones saw a coming together of several Lords and Ladies of the land as they decided a new ruler of the Six Kingdoms.

One such lord in attendance was Lord Robin Arryn (played by Lino Facioli) of the Eerie, who looked remarkably different from his last appearance on the HBO show.

Viewers last saw the sickly youngster in season six when he was visited by Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen).

While he was remembered for being a rather petulant child who was constantly attached to his mother’s breast before her untimely death, he appeared to have changed considerably over the years.

Fans took to Twitter to comment on how surprised they were at how Robin turned out.

“Robin Arryn was looking kinda fine in the finale last night #GoT,” one opined.

“Believe me when I say I did a big ol’ double take when I realized this was little Robin Arryn #GameofThrones #GameofThronesfinale,” another added alongside a picture of the character.

“The big winner of the #GoT finale was Robin. The weirdo boy who had an unexpected glow up just in time to be smoking hot in his final scene,” a third added.

A fourth shared: “The only good thing that came out of #GOT is that Robin Arryn is hot now and I have a new crush.”

“Robin Arryn finally got off the breast milk and grew the hell up. I had to do a double take #GoT,” a fifth tweeted.

A sixth declared: “Shout out to Robin Arryn, who’s apparently been chilling this whole time. He’s really grown into a fine young man. #GOTFinale #GoT.”

In the end, it was Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) who was elected to power.

The choice may come as a surprise to some viewers as Bran hasn’t really ever been a front-runner to rule the kingdoms.

It certainly proved divisive for die-hard fans, as many criticised the outcome on social media.

“Dude #BranStark should not have gotten that throne. He’s been so useless in the show. His potential was there but it was never used right. This season of #GameOfThrones has been so disappointing,” wrote one.

Another shared: “What was the point of Bran? Does nothing in the fight against the ice king. I was expecting some special power to come out and kill the army but no. Then he becomes king and Jon Snow gets screwed over! #GOT.”

“After sleeping on it, I’m still left with the opinion that the #GameOfThrones finale was absolute garbage. Bran? Seriously? Really? No, really? WTF? Awful. #got,” a third said.

Game of Thrones season 8 is available to watch on NOW TV now and will be repeated on Sky Atlantic tonight at 9pm.
