Coronation Street spoilers: Super villain finally EXPOSED as ITV drops bombshell tease?

Coronation Street was rocked by the untimely death of fan favourite Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) in the Underworld roof tragedy earlier this year on the ITV soap.

Although it seemed like a tragic accident at first, viewers knew the carnage was caused a mystery figure who tampered with the building work being done of the factory hours before the roof caved in.

Factory boss Carla Connor (Alison King) has been blamed for the collapse after it emerged the disaster was no accident, leading her to spiral into a deep star of paranoia.

As Carla’s mental health storyline reaches its peak in the coming weeks, the identity of the hooded figure will be revealed to viewers and now the soap has revealed the villain will be one of three residents.

Before the factory collapse, it was revealed six residents were in the line-up to be revealed as the assailant with the likes of Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) and Carla herself.

Now, all three of them have been ruled out with Coronation Street confirming either scheming Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), troublesome Gary Windass (Mikey North) or Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) will be about to start a dark new journey.

The soap announced the news on their official website, with the statement reading: “Are you ready to discover the identity of the shadowy figure who sabotaged the roof of Underworld, killing Rana?

“Next week it will be revealed whether it is Gary, Nick or Robert who has been living with the guilt of this deadly secret. Will someone get away with murder?”

Although viewers will discovers the criminal’s identity, the rest of Weatherfield will go about their daily lives unaware a murderer is living amongst them.

After causing Rana’s death, it seems the villain will get a taste for the dark side as executive producer Iain MacLeod explained the factory collapse was the start of the evil mastermind’s sinister reign.

Iain told press including Express.co.uk: “We’re designing a character in that latter type who can stay long term as an antagonistic just messing up lives.

“By the end of 2019, there will be an unmistakably new and complicated villainous character on the cobbles.”

With the executive producer stating the reign will last until 2019 and possibly beyond, does this mean Robert is out of the running?

It was announced last month actor Tristan Gemill, 51, would be leaving the soap after portraying the role of the silver haired restaurant owner for four years.

Taking to Twitter, the former Casualty star posted: “Folks, I just wanted to let you know that the time has come for me to hang up the chef’s gear and head for pastures new.”

The post continued: “There is still a lot of drama & shenanigans to come for Robert but I will be leaving @itvcorrie later in the year.”

However, could Robert’s exit mean the villain storyline will come to an end earlier than expected as the mysterious character is put behind bars for Rana’s murder?

Nick is the troublemaker most likely to be exposed due to his dodgy past having conned his grandmother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) out of her life savings last year, with the fraud possibly the start of his evil doings.

Recent spoiler pictures saw Nick actor Ben Price, 47, and his co-stars gathering outside a court house filming for upcoming episodes.

Will Nick’s crimes be revealed in dramatic fashion, or could he be in the frame for either Gary of Robert’s misdemeanours?

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
