Real Madrid fans come up with brilliant chant as disaster season comes to an end

The loss was Real’s 12th of the league season – their most since 1974, when they finished eighth out of 18.

Luckily for Los Blancos the lack of high-level competition cruised them to a third-place finish, securing Champions League football next season.

This curtain-closer will have left returning manager Zinedine Zidane under no illusions as to the size of his task, though.

The French tactician fielded a near full-strength side against mid-table Betis, but urgency was lacking from the offset.

Loren Moreon opened the scoring in the 61st minute and former Real striker Jese came back to haunt his former club with a second 14 minutes later.

The Bernabeu faithful looked on in disbelief before deciding to look on the bright side and sing away their sorrows.

“Let’s go to the bar,” they sang in their native tongue, before leading into cries of: “We’re going on holiday.”

The players circled the pitch afterwards, praising the support of their fans.

But the patrons were not interested in their side’s pleasantry, whistling them as they walked applauding the crowd.

A few players’ futures are in doubt as the summer nears, in particular, Gareth Bale.

The Welshman reportedly takes home £300,000 a week but Zidane is not convinced the forward has what it takes to excel in his revamped side.

The 29-year-old is contracted to Real Madrid until June 2022 and is keen to stay in the Spanish capital.

Zidane did not offer any promises on that coming true, though, saying before Sunday’s loss: “I don’t know whether this will be his last game.

“We’re at the end of the season and next year there’ll be changes, but I don’t know whether this will be his last game or not”.
