Game of Thrones S8 ending: George RR Martin dragon revelation is very BAD for Daenerys

Everyone knows it as Game of Thrones. But the official name of George RR Martin’s epic saga is, of  couse, A Song Of ice And Fire. The ice part has been taken care of (slightly abruptly) but there is stll the fire. Somewhat unexpectedly there is only one dragon left. However, despite eight complicated and fascinating seasons of getting all the plots, backstabbing and armies in place, it turns out that all anybody needs is one giant fire-breathing flying lizard. So, Dany wins, right? Maybe not.

Daenerys’ assertion she is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne no longer appears to be true, but she is still Mother of Dragons.

They (or just he now) are hers and hers alone.

With Qyburns’ giant dragon-killing weapons all destroyed there is no way to defeat Dany since Drogon is loyal to her alone and will never bond with anyone else.

Well, no. Not true. The books show how vulnerable she really is.

So far, only two other people have flown a dragon. The Night king was able to since he had killed and turned Viserion.

Jon Snow was able to fly Rhaegal because he has Targaryen blood, but also because Dany was still in charge. He never did it while she wasn’t around, mounted on Drogon, the alpha Targaryen on the biggest alpha dragon.

So, nobody can fly a dragon without Daenerys?

No, not true.

The Targaryen histories have numerous examples of dragons taking more than one rider.

The most famous is Balerion, ridden by King Aegon I when he conquered Westeros. The dragon lived to be 200 and was ridden by successive Targaryens.

The key to taking is a new rider is that it only happens when the current rider dies, or, of course, is killed.

It is now very clear Daenerys can not survive without Drogon. Her dragon, however, can be claimed after her death. Varys was implied to be trying to poison Dany. She may be impervious to flames but will another person succeed?

This is hugely bad news for Daenerys, especially with another Targaryen waiting in the wings. Jon loves Dany but her latest actions will ignite his fundamental sense of honour, especially if she attempts another shocking attack, or, most likely, turns on Sansa and the North?

Will Jon kill Daenerys and become Drogon’s rider?
