PGA Championship CUT LINE: What is the projected cut and how many players will make it?

Pre-tournament favourite Brooks Koepka leads the way on -10 as he comes to the end of his second round in Long Island.

Players are battling it out in the second round to try and ensure another two rounds on the Bethpage Black Course.

Fans favourite Tiger Woods, who won the Masters earlier this year, sat 49th after day one and is currently +5.

But can the 14-time Major winner make it to Saturday’s action?

PGA Championship cut line

The cut line for the PGA Championship is pretty straight forward.

The top 70 players will progress to the third round, along with those tied on score with the player placed in 70th.

Unlike the Masters, this tournament does not allow players who are 10 shots off the leader to continue competing over the weekend.

It means everyone down to joint-70th Sungjae Im would progress with the cut line projected to be +4.

Woods is therefore set to miss out on carrying on his week of golf in New York state.

British hopes

The best British hopes lie with Matt Wallace who is tied for fourth, six shots off leader Koepka.

Rory McIlroy had a nightmare opening day as he tied with Woods on +2.

The Ulsterman didn’t fair any better on Friday, posting a +3 which should just ensure he makes the cut.

After his round on Friday, McIlroy said: “The second nine was better than the first. I was five-over through three holes and I was thinking about Florida for the weekend.

“What kept me going? Pride. Just pride. Just trying to play a good round of golf and try to get something that’s close to the best out of myself.

“And, I don’t like missing cuts. It’s not something that I’m used to fortunately, and I wanted to be around for the weekend.

“I tried after every shot and I didn’t let me head get down. I grinded. I’ve been in this position before and I’ve been able to come back.

“Or you go back to Birkdale (the 2017 Open) a couple years ago where I was 4-over through 5 or 5-over through 6 and shoot 71.

“To play the last 15 holes in four-under par was an example of me trying hard and showing some character and just wanting to be here for the weekend.

“And at least if you’re around for the weekend, you can go out there and maybe shoot a good one tomorrow and at least give yourself half a chance.”
