The Big Bang Theory season 12 spoilers: ‘I’m mad’ Fans ANGERED by ending despite twist

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Big Bang Theory season 12, episodes 23 and 24.

Fans of The Big Bang Theory were annoyed as the CBS show confirmed Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) are expecting their first child.

Penny broke the news in the first episode of the hour-long special, but fans could not get excited at what they saw as a “predictable” ending and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One fan tweeted: “I’m kind of mad they made Penny pregnant. Like not every female character needs a baby to validate their existence in the storyline.”

Another added: “I’m disappointed by the predictable Penny pregnant ending and leaving Raj terminally single.”

A third fan went even further: “I was really hoping this wouldn’t end with Penny being pregnant. She didn’t want kids. Not wanting kids is a perfectly valid life choice and I’m tired of society enforcing the idea that couples need to have kids to be whole.”

Fans predicted someone would fall pregnant after years of waiting for the group to gain more, smaller additions.

Many of those expected Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) to fall pregnant, but were disappointed when she did not.

They had seen a clue teased by the show and thought it was proof she was about to have a baby.

One fan said: “I want Amy to say she’s pregnant too!!!”

Another added: “I was hoping they [Amy and Sheldon] would be pregnant like Penny and Leonard.”

Instead, she won the Nobel Prize and gave an emotional speech to female scientists out there and this appeased fans a little.

However, fans were even disappointed by the fact they will never see Penny give birth or even find out the sex of the baby.

A The Big Bang Theory fan took to Twitter to say: “I have watched this show from day one (helps that my name is Penny) BUT HOW CAN YOU END THE SERIES LIKE THAT?!?! Penny is FINALLY pregnant and now we’ll NEVER KNOW what she has?!?! Ugh I loved this show but really?!?!”

Another added: “This is NOT FAIR @bigbangtheory. Penny is pregnant but WE WILL NOT SEE THE BABY GROW UP, but we saw Howard and Bernadette kids grow into toddlers…”

Despite the disappointing ending for some fans, they are still emotional at the show finishing after 12 seasons.

They will now have to settle for re-runs of the show and the spinoff Young Sheldon.

Fans had been desperate for Amy’s pregnancy so they could have another spinoff called “Little Sheldon.” showing the baby’s life with its parents.

However, it was not to be and it might not be the only thing not happening after the show’s finale.

Creator Chuck Lorre has seemingly ruled out another spinoff, upsetting fans even more.

The Big Bang Theory is available to watch on CBS and in the UK on E4.
