Avengers Endgame: MASSIVE plot hole solved thanks to Hulk – Kevin Feige confirms

WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Avengers Endgame.

The Marvel boss participated in an Ask Me Almost Anything (AMAA) session on Reddit yesterday, where he fielded some burning questions about the blockbuster.

One of them was about an apparent issue some have noticed with what should have been the most uplifting part of the whole story.

Part-way through the movie, Hulk wields the six Infinity Stones and, with his own Snap, reverses the mass wipeout Thanos enacted at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

But this raised questions over how – and more importantly, where – everyone came back.

Judging by the time portals that emerged on the battlefield in the final fight, it seemed that the ‘dusted’ came back to life in the exact spot they were killed at five years earlier.

But what about those who were mid-air at the time? What about those who were driving at high speed, or in otherwise perilous positions?

A fan asked Feige: “People have expressed views that, in Endgame, those brought back by the snap could have died in accidents (like someone being brought back 100 ft in the air where a plane used to be).

“Is it possible that Hulk, when doing the snap, not only brought everyone back, but also brought them back in a safe place?”

Feige answered simply: “We refer to the version of Hulk in Endgame as Smart Hulk. So, yes.”

Indeed, this version of Hulk is one who has managed to co-exist with Bruce Banner.

This means he has all of the strength and force of Hulk, with Banner’s extremely intelligent science brain.

Feige also appeared to hint that Hulk could be seen again the MCU.

Endgame was believed to be the end of the road for the “original six” Avengers, but only Black Widow, Iron Man and Captain America appeared to have definitive endings: the former two died, the latter went back to the past and had grown old by the time the film ended.

One fan asked: “A while ago, you said you had a meeting with Mark Ruffalo and asked what he wanted out of the Hulk, then included that in Ragnarok, Infinity war and Endgame.

“Now that all 3 movies are out, can we get more information on what Ruffalo wanted out of the Hulk?”

Feige responded: “Many years ago, Mark came in for a meeting with us at Marvel Studios to discuss ways in which the Hulk could grow and evolve in upcoming films.

“He pitched a lot of cool ideas, some of which led to what you saw in Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War and Endgame, and some of which would still be cool to see someday.”

The indication there, then, is that Ruffalo could still reprise the role going forward.

Avengers: Endgame is out now.
