New York Mayor de Blasio’s 2020 presidential bid SAVAGED by own city – ‘It’s LUDICROUS’

The 58-year-old Democrat is expected to declare his bid on Thursday, a campaign spokesperson said on Wednesday. He will join more than 20 other candidates who are all vying for the Democrat nomination. But New Yorkers speaking to Spectrum News NY1 lambasted the presidential hopeful.

One said: “I can’t even express the ludicrousy of this.

“We don’t need another candidate, we don’t need another candidate.

“We have issues in New York he needs to pay attention to.”

Another commented: “There is no way he could win President of the US when the people of New York, probably 60-40 hate him.”

A third added: “He doesn’t have a chance.

“I don’t think he’s accomplished much in the city.”

Mr de Blasio will make the formal announcement on Thursday morning before travelling to Iowa and South Carolina on a four-day trip.

He will be accompanied by his wife Chirlane McCray, who NBC News says has been a visible presence and adviser during his six years at City Hall, New York.

Woodbury Country Democratic Party in Iowa confirmed that de Blasio would appear at an event as the first stop off during his presidential bid tour begin.

However, the post was later deleted.

Mr de Blasio believes his record on overseeing an all-time low drop in crime, raising of minimum wage and enacting universal pre-kindergarten in the US’ largest city will see him win support.

Other Democrats aiming to take on US President Donald Trump include Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
