Bielsa – not a simple game

19:35: Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa: “It’s two games, but we could say it’s just one game and we’ve just played the first half,” the Argentine said.

“The difference is only one goal and the idea is to increase the difference and prevent the opponent from reducing it.

“Usually you don’t make comments at half-time and usually you work to build a superiority in the time that you have to play.

“The first game was not simple for us, and we’re sure that the next game won’t be easy either.”

Ben: Unpopular opinion. I actually want Leeds to win tonight and I’d quite like to see them in the Premier League next season. I think Bielsa is one hell of a character!

Billy: Played with Lampard when we were kids, and still to this day, I have never seen a player work so hard to get to where he wanted to be. He’d be doing laps of the pitch after games and all sorts, he deserves everything he gets because he’s worked his nuts off for it.

Barry: Genuine question – what is Derby’s plan if they don’t go up and all their loan players go back to their parent clubs? Tough job for Lampard next season.

Stupid boy

19:25: Leeds captain Liam Cooper is confident team-mate Patrick Bamford can make amends for his “stupid” suspension.

He has served a two-game ban for deceiving the referee in the recent home draw against Aston Villa and, having shown remorse, he now has the chance of swift redemption.

“There’s no worries about Pat being fit and we all know what he can do,” said Cooper. “He’s got this unbelievable confidence.

“It’s one of those things in the heat of the moment. Sometimes you make stupid decisions and Pat will admit that.”

IT issues…

19:20: Sorry about that folks. I had a wee problem with my computer and was forced to ring the IT Department – which some will know is usually an absolute nightmare.

And this was no exception. Took me five minutes to connect and then the problem fixed itself as I was describing it. Joyous.

Team News – Derby

19:15: Frank Lampard looks like he will match Leeds’ formation tonight.

He makes one change from the defeat last week with Mason Bennett starting ahead of David Nugent. Just the three goals for Bennett this season…

Team News – Leeds

19:10: Right then – two changes for Leeds tonight.

Jamie Shackleton starts ahead of the injured Adam Forshaw. The headline news probably belongs to Patrick Bamford, who returns from suspension for the injured Kemar Roofe.

Pontus Jansson starts on the bench meaning Gaetano Berardi continues at centre-back in the normal 4-1-4-1 formation.

Twitter round-up

Tiffany: I’ve never wanted Frank Lampard’s Derby to win a football game more in all my life!

Adam: Derby 1-0 down away from home and they decide not to play a striker. Frank Lampard must be ready for his Holiday.

Michael: Wouldn’t it be great to see Marcelo Bielsa sending Frank Lampard home crying tonight and then John Terry on the 27th, Wishful thinking!

Frenzy

19:00: Stephen Warnock believes the key action could occur during the early exchanges tonight.

“I don’t expect Derby to come flying out of the traps because I don’t think they need to score an early goal. They just need to contain Leeds for as long as they can and be as concentrated as they can be,” Warnock said.

“I expect Leeds to come flying out because they know that one goal will possibly kill the game completely. They have the home advantage and at a packed Elland Road that’s what you would expect from them.

“But when Leeds do come flying out Derby have got the quality up front and speed to counter-attack. It is going to be an interesting first 45 minutes.”

Freebies!

18:55: Love a good freebie. Need supporters have a little present waiting for them inside Elland Road this evening.

Thousands of scarves have been placed on each seat to… to build the atmosphere?… I’m not quite sure why a scarf would help but enjoy them anyway!

Twitter round-up

Stephen: Would love to see the Rams beat Leeds tonight and go to Wembley. Have to have a sensible head though, and realise the points difference reflects the obvious gulf in class. Cant see past 3-0 Leeds but hope Derby can make a game of it!

Sean: I will enjoy watching the Leeds v Derby game today without the anxiety. Yesterday was crazy stressful.

Scott: Nailed on red card in this game tonight.

But who Scott?! Whooooo?

Team news klaxon…

18:43: Just a few minutes until we see the starting XI’s folks. Standby…

The Dean…

18:41: Speaking of play-offs – did you all see Referee Mike Dean going absolutely NUTS celebrating Tranmere’s play-off win over Forest Green? Late contender for highlight of the 2018/2019 season.

Rewind…

18:40: For those living under rocks are had something better to do with their lives on Saturday – this is how the first leg went down.

Kemar Roofe hit a second-half winner to give Leeds a slender 1-0 advantage over Derby.

Roofe coolly slotted home after 55 minutes for his fourth goal against the Rams this season.

Leeds were left breathing a huge sigh of relief when referee Craig Pawson overturned a decision to give the home side a penalty with 12 minutes to go, after Jayden Bogle and Jack Harrison collided in the box.

Something a certain Mr Lampard was not too impressed with.

Evening

18:35: Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Leeds vs Derby.

I was going to open with something about Spygate but quickly decided that was funny for about 12 seconds…

But who knows – if I run out of content later perhaps I’ll mention it up again. Exciting, eh?

Moving swiftly on, tonight’s Championship play-off semi-final at Elland Road sees Frank Lampard’s Derby look to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg if they are to keep alive their promotion dream.

However, NONE of the previous 17 teams to lose the first leg of a second-tier play-off semi-final at home have progressed to the final.

Yesterday’s clash at The Hawthorns was no different. What do they say? Records are made to be broken…

LEEDS vs DERBY – TEAM NEWS

Leeds have been dealt an injury blow as Kemar Roofe has been ruled out of the return leg of their Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final against Derby.

Roofe’s 15th goal of the season secured Leeds a 1-0 win on Saturday at Pride Park in the first leg, but he will play no part at Elland Road on Wednesday due to a calf strain.

Patrick Bamford is expected to start in Roofe’s absence after serving a two-game ban, while Pontus Jansson remains doubtful and Adam Forshaw, Tyler Roberts, Barry Douglas and Gjanni Alioski are definitely out.

Derby are hoping that Martyn Waghorn will be fit. The 13-goal striker missed the first leg with an Achilles injury but he has been training since.

Left-back Ashley Cole could also be involved after he resumed training following an absence with a groin injury.
