Hotmail login: How to create a Hotmail email – Can you still create a Hotmail account?

Email has revolutionised how we communicate, with billions of emails now being sent and received every day. Outlook, Microsoft’s successor to Hotmail, remains the world’s second most popular email platform thanks to its power and performance. While it is no longer possible to create new Hotmail accounts, those nostalgic enough can set-up a Microsoft Outlook account with a Hotmail domain name.

How to create a Hotmail email:

Begin by visiting the Microsoft Outlook website in your web browser and click on the Create Account link in the screen’s top-right corner.

Users will next be presented with the option to select their email address domain from either @outlook.com or @hotmail.com in the drop-down menu.

Then enter your desired password into the Create Password field beneath the New Email field.

Your password should include a combination of letters, numbers and special characters.

Entering your full name is now required by typing your first name then last name into the relevant text fields.

Outlook will now automatically detect and fill in the country and region information for you, but this also be manually entered from a drop-down box.

Enter your date of birth in the Birthdate section by clicking the particular information in the relevant date box.

You will now be presented with a list of distorted letters and numbers; and contents of this box needs to be entered the Characters You See text field.

Users also have the option of clicking the New button to generate anther code or even having the code read aloud.

And if this verification code is correctly entered, clicking Next will create your account and take you to the Microsoft Outlook tutorial.

Exactly how popular is email?

There were more than 3.8 billion email users at the start of this year, which is more than 100 million more than in 2018.

This means more than half of the entire planet uses email right now.

As a comparison, there were approximately 1.9 billion worldwide users a decade ago.

And current estimates project that this figure will top 4.2 billion email users by 2022.
