Britain’s Got Talent 2019: David Walliams takes major swipe at judge Simon Cowell

Britain’s Got Talent judges David Williams and Simon Cowell have an interesting dynamic on-screen together.

The pair often bicker on the talent competition however David revealed that they’re more like brothers than anything else.

Appearing on Bear’s Mission with David Walliams, the judge said he has a good relationship with the music mogul but joked he’d like Simon to “get out of bed earlier”.

Bear asked the comedian and children’s author how he thought Simon would fare on the programme which pushes people to their physical limits.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge replied: “Very hard because the high heeled shoes, they’d be murder on this.”

Bear laughed: “But you’re so brilliant with it. You always have the confidence to take the mick.”

“We’re like brothers really,” David admitted. “Brothers who have a love/hate relationship.

“He once said to me, ‘You’re only happy when I’m unhappy, and I’m only happy when you’re unhappy.’”

David went on to discuss how competitive Simon is yet he also added that he has a very good sense of humour.

He said: “He [Simon] is very competitive, but he can be good fun to be around as well, and he’s got quite a naughty sense of humour.

“Because you are are a person even though you’re an act and you’re going on you’re still a human being.

“It was so nice, it feels like a family atmosphere. Everybody gets on, everybody wants me to do well.

“I got the sense that they really do want me to do well so that’s a really comforting thought.”

There’s just a few weeks left until the semi-finalists are revealed before a week of live shows.

Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
