Captain Marvel DVD release date: When will Captain Marvel be released on DVD?

Captain Marvel hit cinemas in February this year, introducing Marvel fans to the first stand-alone, female-franchise film. Captain Marvel surpassed $1 billion in ticket sales, and fans couldn’t get enough of Carol Danvers (played by Brie Larson), Goose the Flerken and a young Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) – before he lost his eye. Set in the 1990s, there was plenty of nostalgia as fans discovered how Carol aka Captain Marvel gained her powers.

When is Captain Marvel out on DVD?

Captain Marvel will be released on digital download in HD and 4K Ultra HD on 1st July, and lands on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 15th July.

With the hype around Avengers: Endgame still at an all-time high, and Captain Marvel playing an integral role in the fight against Thanos, fans may want to return to her standalone film to relive her past.

Available with the DVD and Blu-ray copy there will be featurettes which show the journey Brie Larson makes to become Captain Marvel.

The features also explore Goose the cat, concept art and directors commentary.

There will also be six deleted scenes included for those who purchase the DVD and Blu-ray as well as a gag reel.

In other MCU news, after two weeks in cinemas, Avengers: Endgame is already the second biggest film of all time and looks set to pass Avatar

Fans will be able to watch all the Marvel films on new streaming service Disney+, which is due to be launched on November 12 this year.

Disney+ will rival sites like Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime with their collection of both classics and recent releases.

All Disney movies released in 2019 will be available on Disney+ including all Marvel blockbusters and live action remakes of Dumbo, Lion King and Aladdin.

This means Disney content already available on other streaming services will begin to migrate across to the new streaming service ready for it’s November launch.

Disney+ will also feature the new Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian.

Avengers: Endgame will be available on the streaming service, with its release date for Disney+ revealed by Disney boss Bob Iger.

The Disney CEO said: “We’re very pleased with our Q2 (Second Quarter) results and thrilled with the record-breaking success of Avengers: Endgame, which is now the second-highest grossing film of all time and will stream exclusively on Disney+ starting December 11th.”

However, these dates are for the US only, as the streaming service will launch there first.

It is thought when the service does launch, Captain Marvel will be one of the first films available to stream.
