Sophie Turner: ‘Trust them to do that’ Priyanka Chopra addresses Joe Jonas' wedding secret

Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner, 23, who plays Sansa Stark in the HBO series, married Joe Jonas, 29, after the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas on May 1. Their spontaneous moment came as no surprise to Priyanka Chopra, 36, who is married to Joe’s brother Nick Jonas, 26. Explaining all, she said: “It was really funny. We were at the Billboards. Joe I think had this idea that he wanted to do this.

“But we were at the Billboards and he had these little black cards [invites] that we all got.”

Spilling further details on the moment, Priyanka told Access: “We were randomly inviting our friends, like people that we met.

“We were like, ‘Alright, we’re going to set up this wedding now, we’re going to the chapel right from here, and please arrive, please arrive.’”

She added: “Trust them to pull something like this off.”

Sophie and Joe gathered up their fellow Billboard attendees including Diplo, 40, and Khalid, 21, as their wedding guests.

DJ Diplo gave an insight into the couple’s big day on Instagram in view of his five million Instagram followers.

Screenshots saw Sophie arriving to meet her husband-to-be wearing a white veil and jumpsuit.

Another showed the pair standing alongside an Elvis Presley impersonator, who reportedly cost 600 dollars to officiate the wedding.

With the pair’s wedding plans being last minute, expected guests such as Sophie’s parents missed their daughter’s big moment.

According to the Daily Mail, Sophie called her mother Sally to share the news with her minutes before she walked down the aisle.

Sally told told the publication: “Sophie did call me before. She said, ‘Mum, I’m getting married in Vegas.’

“I am absolutely delighted and so is my husband Andrew.”

Sophie’s mother didn’t disclose further details about their phone call, but insisted Sophie and Joe’s decision came as no surprise.

Earlier this year, Sophie said her and Joe were trying to keep their wedding details “low-key,” insisting it would be an “intimate thing”.

When quizzed further about a wedding date, the actress said the pair could “maybe” get married this year.

They got engaged in 2017 after making their relationship official in 2016.

Elsewhere Sophie is currently starring in HBO’s eighth and final episode of Game Of Thrones.

On filming for the last season, she told Digital Spy: “It’s like a divorce, or a death in the family, leaving Sansa behind, and leaving people behind.

She added: “I think the divorce from the character is the hardest thing for me, because my adolescence has just been ‘Sophie and Sansa’.

“Sometimes, you get both worlds mixed up. So leaving Sansa behind is like leaving a big part of my growing up behind.”

Game of Thrones season 8 airs on HBO in the US on Sundays 9pm ET and on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK on Mondays at 2am and 9pm BST.
