Google Home prices CRASH as huge changes announced for this smart speaker

Google Home is the Mountain View firm’s connected home range that received a price cut during its I/O developer conference earlier this week.

The standard Google Home can now be picked up for £89, which represents a £40 cut from its previous £129 cost.

In addition to this, the Google Nest Hub and the Google Home Max have also crumbled in price.

The Google Nest Hub is not a new product from the American tech giant, instead it is just the Google Home Hub with a rebranded name.

Here is a full list of new Google Home prices:

• Standard Google Home – £89 (was £129)

• Google Home Max – £299 (was £399)

• Google Nest Hub – £119 (was £139)

The price cut for the Mountain View firm’s connected home devices were announced along with two huge changes for the product line.

As alluded to above, the Google Home Hub has received a name change to the Google Nest Hub.

Explaining the reasoning behind the change Rick Osterloh, Google’s senior vice president for devices and services, said: “Your home is the most special place in your life, so we need to be thoughtful about the technology we create for it. By putting people first, we are going beyond the idea of a smart home to create a truly helpful home.

“Over the past year we have brought the Nest and Google teams together to deliver on our vision of the helpful home.

“And today we are further simplifying things, bringing all of these products together under the Nest name.

“As a single team and a single product family we’re following a set of guiding principles that reflect our commitment to putting people first.”

Finally, Google also announced a new smart display during its I/O keynote called the Nest Hub Max.

The hardware boasts a very similar design to the standard Nest Hub but has a larger 10-inch HD display.

Most notably, the Nest Hub Max also has a built-in Nest Cam that allows owners to monitor things at home when they are out and about.

The front-facing sensor also allows for facial recognition and content displayed will be customised for individual users accordingly.

Plus, the lens also means users are able to control the playback of media with a hand gesture.

The Google Nest Hub Max will launch this summer for £219.
