Inside Bagshot Park: What is Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward’s home like?

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 54, and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, 55, tied the knot back in 1999. A year earlier, in March 1998, the Mansion House at Bagshot Park was leased by the Crown Estate to the Prince. At the time, it was renovated in order to become his royal residence. Now, the royals live there with their two children: Lady Louise Windsor, 15, and James, Viscount Severn, 11.

The Prince has since extended the lease of the property to 150 years for £5 million.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex has shared some insight into what their lives in the rural countryside is like.

In an unearthed interview, she explained that the children spend lots of time with their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, on weekends when she is staying at Windsor Castle.

The huge brick and stone tudor style building sits amongst an expanse of land.

Here, there is also a stable block.

But what does the interior of the house actually look like?

The family, understandably, have kept this part of their personal life relatively private.

In an interview for the February 2015 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, however, Sophie opened the doors to give a peek inside.

In one capture, the royal can be seen in a sitting room, which has tremendously high ceilings.

The walls have been adorned with pale blue patterned wallpaper, and the floors feature a purple and blue-toned rug.

In this room, blue and yellow curtains drape at the window.

It has been furnished with a number of pieces of furniture.

Dark wood is a common theme – making up the sideboard, side table, and a decorative cabinet.

A blue sofa can also be seen, while Sophie stands beside a blue and gold chair.

There’s also a humongous white mantlepiece, and a large vase filled with orange flowers.

Another capture which the public have been able to see is the billiard room.

It has wood-carved wood panelling; these 241 pieces were individually carved by the late architect Bhai Ram Singh, students of the Mayo School, and carpenters in Amritsar.

The floor is made of wooden chevrons, and features a blue patterned rug which has been laid out in the centre of the room.

From one royal couple to another, what does the countryside home of Kate Middleton and Prince William, Anmer Hall, look like?
