Graham Norton single: ‘Why wouldn’t I go on Tinder?’ – Is Graham Norton single?

Graham Norton will host Virgin Media’s British Academy Television Awards (Bafta) this Sunday. The funnyman, who has his own chat show The Graham Norton Show, will return as the host for the glitzy ceremony after he last fronted the award show in 2016. And as the Irishman prepares for one of the most spectacular nights in the British TV industry, we took a look at his love life.

Is Graham Norton single?

Graham Norton appears not to be in a relationship at the moment after the TV personality split from his partner Andrew Smith in 2015.

He had previously been in a relationship with Trevor Patterson for two years, before they split in 2013.

After the break ups, Graham said men often resented the role they had to play in the public eye as his partner.

In an openhearted interview with the Sunday Mirror in 2015, the Bafta host said it would be easier to find a long term partner if he was a straight man.

He said: “This will sound sexist but that doesn’t mean it’s any less true.

“If I were a straight man, my female partner would have a role in the eyes of society.

“She would be the mother of my children, my hostess, the person on my arm at red carpet events. She would have a defined function.

“But that’s not the case if your partner is male. Every man – no matter how young or fey – has something of the alpha in him.”

He added many of his ex-boyfriends ended up “loathing” being seen on his arm at events because they hadn’t “earned it for themselves”.

Graham explained: “Increasingly, that puts a strain on the relationship.”

After a year of being single, Graham made headlines as he was seen on the popular online dating app Tinder.

Asked for a comment by Closer magazine in 2016, he said: “That’s weird that it creates headlines.

“Why have they published this story? Are they trying to embarrass me?

“I’m a single person, why wouldn’t I go on Tinder?”
