Sophie, Countess of Wessex cuts casual figure as she supports daughter Lady Louise Windsor

Sophie, Countess of Wessex was barely able to contain her excitement at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Visibly proud, the 54-year-old looked overjoyed as she watched her daughter Lady Louise Windsor, 15, take third place in the Private Driving Class. The royal cut a much more casual figure than her usual outings to royal engagements – even pausing to take photographs on her smart phone. But, while she may have been there as a parent rather than a royal, Sophie still looked incredibly smart.

She opted for a pair of blue trousers, as well as a navy blue blazer.

The chic garment featured a double-breasted design, and had been embellished with a gold brooch in one corner.

Sophie also wore a cream and pink patterned scarf.

The Countess carried a blue bag over her shoulder – something which would certainly not be commonplace on official royal outings.

She also sported a pair of glasses on her head.

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh was also there to watch the young royal.

The 97-year-old sat on a horse cart as he observed his granddaughter.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex is a working member of the Royal Family.

She spends much of her days supporting Queen Elizabeth II, as well as dividing time between a variety of causes and charities.

Prior to her marriage to Prince Edward in 1999, she worked in PR – owning her own PR company.

The Countess and her husband Prince Edward live in Bagshot Park with their two children, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn, 11.

In the past, Sophie has shared some insight into their life in the royal countryside.

Back in 2016, the royal explained that they enjoy plenty of time with the Queen – who often spends weekends at Windsor Castle.

She explained: “We’re a lot more fortunate because we live so much closer to the Queen.

“So, when she spends a lot of time at Windsor at weekends, our children are more fortunate because they can go over and have tea with her on a regular basis.”

Sophie added: “So we do see quite a lot of her, and we’re over there most weekends riding.

“So she sees quite a lot of us – lucky her!”
