Freddie Starr dead: Comedian found dead in Spanish home – how did Freddie Starr die?

Freddie Starr has died at the age of 76, according to The Sun. The comedian and lead singer of Merseybeat pop group the Midniters was found dead at his Spanish home. According to the newspaper, his body was discovered on the floor of his Costa Del Sol apartment. 

How did Freddie Starr die? 

Police have said they believe Freddie’s death was not suspicious and that he died of natural causes.

He was found on the floor of his Costa Del Sol apartment by a carer. 

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, told the Mirror: “His carer found him dead in his chair at around 3.30pm.

“Police arrived first and then later an ambulance arrived and he was taken away.”

Freddie took part in a series of I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here! in 2011 just one year after quadruple bypass surgery following a heart attack.

However, he left the jungle amid reports producers were concerned for his health.

He was also forced to pull out of a number of public engagements in 2015 due to a lung condition. 

Celebrities have quickly flocked to the internet to express their sadness at the passing of the star. 

Scottish comedian Limmy wrote on Twitter: “Had the pleasure of meeting Freddie Starr at a charity do once.

“He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny.”

Comedian Lloyd Hollett said: “There are no words.

“RIP Freddie… an utter comedy genius. Who inspired me in abundance.

“I wouldn’t be a comedian today if it wasn’t for this man. Thank you Freddie.”

Freddie Starr was most famous for his role as the lead singer of pop group the Midniters.

He also presented game show Beat the Crushers. 

His first appearance was on IT show Opportunity Knocks and the Royal Variety Performance. 

He went on to star in a number of television shows, including his own, the Freddie Starr Show.
