Strictly Come Dancing: 'I don't want to break up a home' Star requested SINGLE partner

Blue favourite Simon Webbe, 41, who took part in Strictly Come Dancing back in 2014 revealed his caveat for joining the BBC show in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk. “My experience on Strictly was one of the best I’ve ever had, that’s because there was none of this scandal,” he said. “I take my hat off to Strictly over the years but I just don’t know what it’s doing now, to be honest.” The popstar went on to spill all on his own reservations at the time he signed up for Strictly.

“I’ll tell you a secret,” he added. “What I did say when I was approached to do the show, I said, ‘Listen, I’m single at the minute.

“‘Please do not put me with a dancer who’s in a relationship because I do not want to be a part of a man that is breaking up a home. There’s just no way.’”

After opening up about his request, Simon, who was paired with Kristina Rihanoff during his time on Strictly, went on to say his focus was on grasping the opportunity to learn different dance styles with both hands, emphasising his desire to steer clear of any ‘curse’ rumours.

“And they agreed and they put me with Kristina, who was single at the time,” he continued. “So, it was great. We had no drama.

“I want to dance,” he added. “It’s my one opportunity to experience something incredible that nobody from my culture would ever really get the chance to do.

“I don’t want to break up a home.”

On the subject of the “scandals” which have surrounded Strictly over the years, Simon felt last year’s “overshadowed” the dancing.

“It needs to be about the dancing,” he declared. “I miss the old school dancers, man. I miss the Brendans [Brendan Cole].”

He also revealed he went in to the series with his heart set on going as far as he possible could without distractions.

“Because you’re a celebrity they don’t expect you to be competitive,” he explained. “I come from a sporting background, most of my life I’ve wanted to be the best at what I do.”

Simon and Kristina, 41, who remain in touch, managed to reach the grand final but lost out on the Glitterball trophy to Caroline Flack, 39, and her partner Pasha Kovalev, also 39.

Elsewhere, chart-topper Simon has teamed up with fair online casino PlayOJO to front their search for Britain’s worst snorer after new research found 65 per cent of Brits say they have been woken up by someone else in their household snoring, unfairly interrupting their sleep.

Admitting to snoring himself, he said his wife Ashen Kemal is sometimes bothered by it, laughing: “But she kind of laughs at it because she loves me so much.”

“We make fun of each other,” he continued. “I don’t constantly snore but there are times when she knows I’m really knackered, I’ve travelled or I haven’t slept for a couple of days, that’s when I really go into my deep sleeps.

“She kind of thinks it’s funny and she likes to record me sometimes.”
