Fortnite Season 9 downtime update and server maintenance countdown

Fortnite Season 9 downtime has been confirmed for tomorrow, May 9 on all platforms.

This will be the first phase in launching a massive new game update, the downside being that servers will need to be offline for a short period.

So the countdown can officially begin for the start of Fortnite Season 9 on PS4, Xbox, PC and Mobile platforms.

FORTNITE DOWNTIME NEWS

Fortnite downtime means that servers will be taken offline by Epic Games and a new update released afterwards.

This will begin Fortnite Season 9, bringing new map changes, skins and a Battle Pass to the game.

Epic Games has now confirmed that Fortnite downtime for Season 9 will begin at 9am, BST, on May 9.

“The Future approaches. Downtime for Season 9 begins tomorrow, May 9 at 4 AM ET(0800 UTC),” Epic Games confirmed today.

The development team for Fortnite have not revealed how long downtime will last, but it isn’t expected to go on longer than a few hours.

And there’s going to some exciting news happening during the downtime scheduled for later this week.

Epic Games will announce their big plans for Fortnite Season 9, including any map changes that are part of it.

This will be revealed in patch notes, as well as in an official post covering what’s new in the Season 9 Battle Pass.

Epic Games will also release a new trailer, which will showcase all the major changes that are coming to the game.

There are rumours that Epic Games may well launch a new map for Fortnite Season 9 fans.

And if they do, you can expect it to be officially revealed in the upcoming trailer.

After the new announcements are shared and the Fortnite servers go back online, Battle Royale fans will then need to download a new update.

This will be vital as it will contain all the new content for the game and you won’t be able to play again until your up to date.

When this happens, you can probably expect a little disruption when trying to join games, as there will be a lot of interest from fans.

Past seasonal launches have seen Fortnite taken offline by sheer demand; however, that isn’t expected to happen tomorrow.

A recent leak suggests that Fortnite Season 9 will last 12 weeks, rather than the regular 10 weeks fans are used to.

This means that fans may receive more challenges than usual and will likely tie-in somehow with the upcoming Fortnite World Cup Creative event.

Epic Games has confirmed that the Fortnite World Cup Creative Trials will feature five events, each focused on a new Creative game.

Fifteen participants will then be selected to face off in the ultimate Creative competition at the Fortnite World Cup Finals for a chance to win a piece of a $3,000,000 Creative prize pool.

This is expected to run throughout Fortnite Season 9, meaning more news could be shared in the coming weeks.
