Avengers Endgame free download WARNING – DON'T be fooled by this streaming scam

Avengers Endgame has become a box office sensation with this blockbuster movie smashing all previous records for an opening weekend.

In fact, according to Box Office Mojo, the latest instalment has made a worldwide total of $1.44 billion (£1.1 billion).

Despite fans flocking to the cinema to watch this new film, many are still trying to catch the action for free via streams and downloads from the web.

Apart from being illegal, there is another reason why this is a bad idea with the cybersecurity team at Kaspersky labs warning fans about a new scam that is targeting those attempting to watch without paying.

According to Kaspersky, a website has been tricking filmgoers with the promise of watching Avengers Endgame online for free.

Once accessed, people are duped with the clever scam even appearing to play the movie without any issues or need to reveal personal data.

However, soon after the opening titles start a message pops up asking the user to create an account.

The on-screen alert says that signing up for the account is free — except that the user has to provide an e-mail address and create a password.

However, Kaspersky is warning that after clicking ‘Continue’, the user finds out that isn’t enough with the account then needing to be validated – and that requires the user’s billing information and credit card details including the CVC code printed on the back of the card.

The website promises the information will be used only to make sure that the user is from a country where the website is “licensed to distribute” the content and it goes on to day that the user won’t be charged.

That’s not the truth and it appears there is no free movie.

In fact, the few seconds of genuine content that scammers streamed was just part of the movie trailer with the information the user provided ending up in scammers’ hands.

Kaspersky has now released some useful information to stay protected from this type of online scam

Always question what you find online. Search engines are doing a good job keeping their search results clean, but they simply can’t sort out everything.

Don’t enter any information — especially credit card details — on a website you have no reason to trust.

Stop reusing passwords. Use a password manager instead.

Use reliable antivirus software with protection from online scams and phishing.

The news of this Avengers scam comes as fans of Game of Thrones are also being warned about the dangers of watching online for free.

Security experts have alerted users that pirated episodes of this popular series carry the highest risk of containing malware viruses.

That means trying to watch the latest episode of Game of Thrones early, through illicit means, could end up leaving your PC compromised.

Speaking about the threat, Sean McGrath, editor of BestVPN.com, said: “These are exciting times for television fans.

“Streaming services have shaken things up and we are living through a new golden age of TV programming.

“But our love of television and desire to get things instantly makes us easy targets for those who wish to do us harm.

“Malicious executable files can easily be bound to video files, which means all a user needs to do is start watching a video and their computer could be infected.

“That’s why it’s vital to run quality antivirus software, regardless of platform or operating system.”
