Melania Trump rewears £6k sold-out sheer dress as she and Donald miss out on Met Gala 2019

Melania Trump exuded style as she and Donald Trump posed in the Rose Garden at the White House yesterday. The couple were joined by Tiger Woods and his family, after the golfer, 43, was presented with the Medal of Freedom. The First Lady, who is a former fashion model, opted to rewear one of her designer dresses – something which she rarely seems to do. The 49-year-old opted for her white Elie Saab cocktail gown.

It cost $7,450, which works out at around £5,683.

The summery look had a tea-length cut, and featured floral detailing amid sheer fabric.

The tulle cocktail dress had a high neckline and a fit-and-flare silhouette.

It seems to no longer be available to buy online.

Melania was pictured wearing the dress last August, while attending the NATO summit in Brussels.

Yesterday, she teamed the dress with a pair of nude pointed high heels.

Clearly, Melania and Donald did not attend the Met Gala 2019 last night.

The annual fashion fundraiser took place in New York at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion.

In the past, the Trump duo, who tied the knot in 2005, have attended the annual event a number of times.

In fact, Donald reportedly proposed to his now-wife at the Met Gala in 2004.

Recently, Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour said she would not extend an invitation to Donald Trump in the future.

Last week, Melania was pictured attending a National Day of Prayer service in the Rose Garden.

She wore a green Emilia Wickstead dress.

The First Lady accessorised the dress with a green belt.

She also wore a pair of Louboutin mosaic floral print high heels.

Melania Trump: Five facts about the USA’s First Lady

Languages

Mum-of-one Melania can speak more languages than any other First Lady before her: English, French, German, Italian, Serbian and of course her mother tongue, Slovenian.

This also makes her the only First Lady whose first language is not English.

Religion

After Jacqueline Kennedy, Melania is the second First Lady who is a practising Catholic.

She met Pope Francis as part of a foreign tour with her husband and stepdaughter Ivanka last year.

Career

Melania was a successful model, posing for Sports Illustrated, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and GQ.

Her skills aren’t confined to print, and she appeared in a commercial for Aflac, an American insurance company, in 2005.

Family

Melania’s parents are Amalija Knavs and Viktor Knavs, and the couple live together in Washington.

She has one sister, Ines, who is reported to live in New York and work as an artist.

Charity

On May 7 2018, Melania launched her flagship campaign as First Lady, BE BEST, which The White House describes as “an awareness campaign focused entirely around the well-being of children”.

There are three main strands to the initiative: well-being, social media, and opioid abuse.
