Game of Thrones season 8: ‘Million hearts BREAKING’ Brienne star teases MORE Jaime anguish

WARNING: Spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8 episode 4 ahead.

Game of Thrones fans saw Brienne of Tarth (played by Gwendoline Christie) lose her virginity to Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

The scenes had been teased ever since the pair met and finally it happened during tonight’s episode of the HBO series, but it did not end happily for them.

Jaime decides to head back South to sister-lover Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and in turn breaking Brienne’s heart.

Now, actress Gwendoline has spoken out about her character’s reaction to the snub.

She revealed to Entertainment Weekly: “I was so upset for her. I know it’s just a character and I’m an actor who’s lucky to do her job. It’s so heartbreaking. But it’s life isn’t it? Life is heartbreaking. I never assumed they would be together. I didn’t think that would happen. And now I can feel a million hearts breaking.”

Brienne’s virginity is revealed during a drinking game and this instigates her losing it to Jaime.

However, with their connection lingering throughout all eight seasons it might have always been destined to happen.

Then, fans were left heartbroken as he left her to return to the evil Cersei.

One Twitter fan appreciated the moment: “Jamie and Brienne’s relationship in all its forms has always been the best pairing on this show, to have them acknowledge their feelings and affection for each other in this episode was lovely. Jamie always looks at her like he’s in awe.”

Another added: “I don’t mind Brienne crying over Jamie because that mess was heartbreaking and I’d cry too. Crying over him leaving and his perceived betrayal doesn’t make her less strong.”

However, Gwendoline has revealed she will not be paralysed with grief at Jaime’s exit: “I love that she doesn’t crumble from it. She goes back to work. Because she always loves work — that feels refreshing, a woman can be happy without a companion. Women don’t have to be defined by their partner and that’s good.

“But my god. That’s the Game of Thrones, isn’t it? Just when you think things are going to go well it punches you harder than ever in the guts…”

Things have been going well for Brienne after she was knighted by Jaime in episode two, which was the ultimate honour for her.

Gwendoline describes it as the scene she is most proud of because it is validation of the person she is.

Their sex scene is not the first this season to involve a female losing their virginity after Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) lost hers with Gendry (Joe Dempsie).

There was fan backlash with those scenes and again some fans found these scenes to be unnecessary.

Meanwhile, the romance between Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) could be over after his revelation about his ancestry and claim to the Iron Throne.

Fans think she is descending into a Mad Queen state and may seek revenge on Jon after he revealed to his siblings he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

Daenerys could be in trouble herself after Rhaegal, her dragon, was shot down. However, it could be set for an immediate return after the episode five trailer was released.

Game of Thrones continues Sunday on HBO in the USA and the following day on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
