Fortnite season 9 is coming soon, with the release date for the new Battle Pass just around the corner.
Fortnite season 9 is expected to start in a few days time, with Battle Royale players getting new skins, challenges and potentially a brand new map.
Ahead of the start of the new Fortnite season Express.co.uk has rounded up everything you need to know about it.
We have details on the release date, a possible tease for the first season 9 skin and the latest Fortnite map rumours.
FORTNITE SEASON 9 – WHEN IS THE FORTNITE SEASON 9 RELEASE DATE?
It had been thought that Fortnite season 9 would have a release date of Thursday May 9 with an in-game countdown previously suggesting that.
However, a recent blog post from Epic Games suggests the release date will actually be Wednesday May 8.
The post said: “We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Account Merge feature will be coming to an end on May 6, two days before Season 9 begins”.
If that’s when it launches, then Fortnite fans should see servers go down on that day around 8.30am UK time before the rollout of the big season 9 patch.
FORTNITE SEASON 9 – HAVE ANY FORTNITE SEASON 9 SKINS LEAKED?
Not exactly, but Fortnite fans do have an idea about what one of the upcoming new Battle Pass skins could look like.
In the big Fortnite season 8 live event Battle Royale fans noticed something interesting.
Spotted on a desk that appeared during the Unvaulting event there was a mysterious helmet placed on it.
Files for this helmet were added with the recent 8.51 patch and fans have been left speculating if it could be part of a Fortnite season 9 skin.
Fans have speculated it could either be part of the tier 1 outfit or will maybe be part of season 9’s equivalent of the Ruin skin.
FORTNITE SEASON 9 – WILL THERE BE A NEW MAP FOR SEASON 9?
One of the big Fortnite season 9 rumours is that the upcoming Battle Pass could see a new map launched.
Epic Games has long mentioned that they have other Fortnite Battle Royale maps in the works.
In the Fortnite FAQ page Epic Games revealed they do have other Fortnite maps being readied.
Answering the question “will you add more maps” the Fortnite makers said: “Yes, but not right away.
“Currently, we’ll continue making improvements to our existing map, including adding more points of interest.”
This answer has appeared on the Fortnite FAQ page for most of 2018 and all of 2019 so far.
Maybe the time has finally come for one of these new maps to get added once Fortnite season 9 rolls around?
FORTNITE SEASON 9 – WHEN WILL FORTNITE SEASON 9 WEEK 1 CHALLENGES BE OUT?
Typically when new Fortnite seasons launch they also come with the week 1 set of challenges for the new Battle Pass.
So it’s likely that the Fortnite season 9 week 1 challenges will be out on the same day that the new Battle Pass launches.
This means the Fortnite season 9 week 1 challenges should be out on Wednesday May 8.
Alternatively, Epic Games could decide to keep having Thursday as the day that the Fortnite challenges launch.
If that’s the case then Fortnite season 9 could arrive this Wednesday, with the challenges out on Thursday.
