Pixel 3a has just been unmasked in a major Google leak

Pixel 3a is rumoured to be a new handset from Google that makes myriad comprises in its design and internal components when compared to the standard Pixel 3 but is priced more aggressively.

Rumours of a more affordable Pixel handset have been swirling since Russian outlet Rozetked posted claimed images of such a device in November last year.

Back then, the hardware was said to come with a plastic body, a single camera on its rear and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670 processor.

The device was shown to look incredibly similar to the standard Pixel 3 overall.

One area in which the hardware was declared to match its more premium brothers was in the camera department; the device was said to come with the same rear system as the regular Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Following its initial outing of the product, Rozetked later posted claimed images from the Pixel 3a’s rear camera; photos appeared clear and with plenty of details retained.

In recent days and weeks, rumours and leaks surrounding the Pixel 3a have skyrocketed with one of the most comprehensive coming from Droid Life.

The Pixel 3a has been heavily tipped to arrive in two models, the standard Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL.

The outlet showed the duo in what it claimed were the three colours it will debut in; white, purple and black.

Droid Life’s photos also displayed both alleged devices next to each other, showcasing the differences in size between them.

The outlet claimed the Pixel 3a will come with a 5.6-inch display while the Pixel 3a XL was said to tout a 6-inch panel.

Additionally, it was iterated both pieces of hardware will come with a 12.2-megapixel rear camera, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

A single 8-megapixel selfie camera was also stated to be present on each.

In terms of battery capacities, the Pixel 3a was said to have a 3,000mAh cell while the larger Pixel 3a XL was claimed to have a 3,700mAh pack.

In addition to shots of the devices themselves, Droid Life also showcased what it noted was promotional material for the new products.

One of the images claimed the Pixel 3a will tout Google’s signature Night Sight mode within its camera for improved low-light photography.

Moreover, it was also insisted the 3a would come with “three years of security and OS updates” and boast the Call Screen feature that debuted on Pixel 3 devices in the US last year.

In terms of pricing, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have been said to cost $399 and $479 respectively by YouTuber This is Tech Today.

Brandon Lee, the man behind the channel, cited a source familiar with the matter when making such a claim.

On its online store, Google has teased “something big is coming to the Pixel universe” on May 7.

Such a date would fall in line with the tech giant’s forthcoming I/O developer conference that runs from May 7 to May 9.

It is expected the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be unwrapped during the show.

However, it is worth noting while leaks and rumours have suggested a budget Pixel device is coming, nothing about such a piece of hardware has been officially confirmed by Google itself.
