David Walliams FEUD: The bitter fight with Matt Lucas – and how the pair made up

David Walliams, 47, and Matt Lucas, 45, rose to fame as the creators and costars of comedy sensation Little Britain. The pair were once as thick as thieves but after nearly a decade working together a sensational row caused a massive rift between them.

The duo weren’t seen together from 2011 until 2018 when they both attended Dale Winton’s funeral.

A recent snap of them posing together in fancy dress at the 40th birthday party of pal Luke Evans last month has led fans to believe that they’re back on good terms. But what caused the falling out in the first place?

Why did Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams and Matt Lucas fall out?

Both Matt and Britain’s Got Talent judge David have shared their side of the story about the bitter fight that prompted their comedy collaboration to collapse.

In his book Little Me, Lucas opened up about how he and David bickered backstage in 2005, when touring with their Little Britain live show.

Matt wrote that he and David were “suddenly hurling obscenities at each other” and revealed they were “often at loggerheads”.

According to Lucas, rows over trivial things, including what kind of chocolate to have backstage, often escalated.

These backstage spats reportedly reached tipping point during an argument over David’s facial hair.

The trivial disagreement spiralled into a massive row.

While their pair managed to patch things up for a while, tensions re-emerged during the Australian leg of their tour in 2007.

David and Matt’s comedy partnership finally fell through in 2011, after they finished making the show Come Fly With Me.

David Walliams opened up about the feud in 2012, following the release of his autobiography.

He told Radio 4 at the time:  “We’re very different people and probably want different things and had different working methods.

“Well, it’s over for the time being. Whether it’s over forever I don’t know.”

Since the collapse of their comedy collaboration, both Walliams and Lucas have found solo success.

David has become a best-selling children’s author and a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, while Matt joined the cast of Doctor Who and found fame in Hollywood.

The chummy photo of them together at a party last month has delighted fans and seems to be a sign they’ve patched things up.

The old friends appear to be pally again after years of staying apart.

A source told The Sun: “David and Matt didn’t see eye to eye for a while but this is a clear indication they’re back on good terms.

“It’s like David wanted to end any doubts within their fanbase.”
