Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Dec Donnelly to join line-up as former star drops BIG hint?

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, 43, are currently tied up with their duties to Britain’s Got Talent, with the Geordie duo seen presenting the audition round of the ITV talent show.

However, Dec may be taking a break from his presenting duties later this year to fill a spot in the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 line-up, well, if one former professional had their way.

Vincent Simone, 40, starred as a professional dancer on the BBC dance show from 2006 until 2012 alongside his professional partner, Flavia Cacace, 39.

The Italian performed a Tango with Flavia on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in 2015, with the Geordie duo taking to the stage for the End Of The Show Show.

Recently, Vincent took to social media to write a throwback post to Flavia, with a short clip of the former Strictly stars performing the routine on the ITV show.

Posting on Twitter, Vincent wrote: “Dec Dances His Heart Out In The End Of The Show Show – Saturday Night Ta…@FlaviaCacace Remember this.”

However, the likelihood Dec will be filling one of the coveted positions in the line-up is very slim as at the same time the final stages of the dance competition are underway, the Geordie presenter is hosting I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.

Although Vincent may have been hoping his post could convince the presenter, it seems Dec is fully committed to his role Down Under.

With the line-up to be announced in the lead up to the 2019 series later this year, one major absence from the show will be former judge, Dame Darcey Bussell, 50.

Darcey announced her departure from the judging panel last month, having been a familiar face to Strictly audiences since 2012.

After seven years on the panel, the former judge has recently spoken out about her decision to leave, telling The Sun: “It is not a decision that came easily at all.

“But I knew I had the most amazing time for seven years and it is like pushing your luck to think that I could even do another seven years.

“So I just knew it was time for me to finish and to give that place for somebody else to judge on that wonderful show.”

News of Darcey’s replacement has been rife, with the likes of professional and Strictly stalwart Anton Du Beke, 52, in the running.

However, a surprise name in the mix has been former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger, 40, who won the US edition of the show 2010.

The Pussycat Doll’s name arose when former professional Kristina Rihanoff, 41, spoke on Good Morning Britain about her own chances of replacing Darcey.

Kristina said: “Well, of course I would love to be a judge but I don’t see myself in the thrall just yet.

“I’m a very creative person. I love choreographing. Love doing things like that. I do think the panel needs another woman and someone from a different background to ballroom dancing.

“I think someone from a street dancing or commercial dancing background who’s also a professional dancer and perhaps a judge.

“Nicole Scherzinger’s a beautiful stunning lady who has professional training in street and commercial dancing and quite a good judge I think, she proved herself on X Factor,” Kristina explained.

Making an appearance on BBC Breakfast recently, Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, 28, was seemingly forgotten about as presenter Charlie Stayt, 56, failed to introduce the dancer in an interview.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 returns later this year on BBC One.
