Luis Suarez reveals the ONE Liverpool star he has spoken to ‘a lot’ ahead of Barcelona tie

Liverpool face Luis Suarez’s Barcelona in the semi finals of the Champions League this week and next week.

The Reds travel to Spain today ahead of their first-leg clash at the Nou Camp tomorrow night (8pm).

It will be the first time Suarez faces the Premier League outfit in a competitive fixture since leaving Liverpool in 2014.

The Uruguayan striker was the centre-piece of a team that almost won the league title in 2013-14 as he notched 31 goals and 17 assists in just 33 top-flight matches.

Suarez then secured a £75m move to Catalonia, where he has been a revelation having recently scored his 176th goal – in 245 games across all competitions – to become the fifth-highest goalscorer of all time for the La Liga heavyweights.

The 32-year-old, however, is without a goal in the Champions League after eight appearances this term and would love to end that streak against his old club.

And discussing his reunion, Suarez revealed that he has been in contact with former team-mate Henderson – one of just three players remaining from the Liverpool team Suarez last played in, alongside Simon Mignolet and Daniel Sturridge.

Discussing how Barca will approach Liverpool’s style of play, Suarez told Barcelona’s official website: “They are two different styles.

“Liverpool have a way of playing, it might surprise people but they can play out from the back and have excellent players in midfield who can get the ball to the forwards.

“They can play in a way that is similar to our way of playing.

“I don’t think there is much difference, what’s true is that both teams are very strong and the other one will have to look out.

“Obviously it’s exciting to be going back, to play at a ground like Anfield where the fans looked after me.

“I talk to Henderson a lot and he’s obviously looking forward to playing against Philippe and myself and we’ve said that it will be special.

“But now each one is playing for their team and doing their best.

“Obviously I remember the people there with a lot of affection. I speak to people who are still there and they miss those moments that we had together.”

Liverpool are unbeaten in four trips to fellow five-time Champions League winners Barca, having won their last trip there in 2007.
