LPGA star Lexi Thompson said she is taking a break from social media after receiving “hurtful” comments following a round of golf with President Donald Trump and talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.

She joined them at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Easter, and the White House posted photos to social media. Since then, she has been the subject of negative comments.

Between her Twitter and Instagram pages, Thompson has nearly 900,000 followers.

“Hey everybody, just want to say I will be taking a break from social media. If I post it will be from my management team for me,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m too involved with it, and to read some of the hurtful things being said to me lately isn’t fair and I’m not dealing with it. Thank you to my true fans out there I will be back on but I’m going to be focusing on me right now and my life. Thanks for understanding.”

Thompson, a 24-year-old Floridian, is the top-ranked American at No. 8 in the Rolex Rankings and is third in the United States Solheim Cup standings.

She has played with Trump previously and told Golf Digest in 2017 that she isn’t inclined to follow politics.

“I’m not into politics, so honestly I can’t even ask him anything,” she said at the time.
